carusoam Posted March 10, 2019 Report Posted March 10, 2019 Magnetometer..? Copilot side, halfway out... hiding behind access panel with brass rivets... Typical factory location in the 90s... PP thoughts, -a- Quote
PT20J Posted March 10, 2019 Report Posted March 10, 2019 My ‘78 J had it in the left wing. Previous owner removed KCS 55 from my ‘94 J so not sure where it was. Quote
Marauder Posted March 10, 2019 Report Posted March 10, 2019 Based on the previous posts, my guess is it is on the airplane someplace. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro 1 2 Quote
Marauder Posted March 10, 2019 Report Posted March 10, 2019 I am not sure how the older HSI magnetometers were installed but it will probably be mounted in a wing to an inspection plate with the brass screws Anthony mentioned. You may also find another set of screw heads on an inspection plate out near the wing tips if you have strobes. These will be on both sides. The magnetometer will be closer to mid wing.
