After growing tired of looking down at the rust encrusted shafts I did a search here on how to bring them back to their original luster. A few recommended using bronze wool along with Flitz polish.

The results are nothing short of remarkable and the polished chrome shines once again and with very little effort.

I'm still unable to attach pictures to my postings, so here's the link to the gallery

Great job I was thinking about giving mine a polish as well, does anybody know where I can get the map light switch button that rest on top of the yoke?

Alas, getting any parts is likely to be a long wait unless you can find one salvage.  I have inquired about that part from a local MSC and they contacted the factory.  The response was essentially, we don't have them and you should do without it.

The map light switch on '48Q is just a standard electrical switch, and can be replaced with the same--no need for a Mooney-specific part.

Sorry, I read the message as though you were looking for the switch, rather than the button.  Here's the button that's installed on '48Q:

Only $1.06, and almost 500 of them in stock.  It just snaps onto the switch.  The bad news is that it won't quite fit now that I've had AeroComfort do the leather wrap on my yokes--I think I need to turn it down just a little on my lathe.
