Dream to fly Posted July 3, 2017 Report Posted July 3, 2017 I apparently don't know my own strength and snapped the flap lever cable in the retract position so I can't pump the flaps down. The lever has been stiff to operate but I broke it good now. Any ideas where to get one???
N201MKTurbo Posted July 3, 2017 Report Posted July 3, 2017 (edited) Your best bet is to cut the wire at the flap pump and pull it all out with a pair of vice grips. Work it in and out with some oil until it works well. Then go to McMaster Carr and order a length of piano wire the same diameter and replace the center. That will give it another 20 years or so. Especially if you keep it lubed this time. Replacing the whole thing isn't all that hard. It is standard Bowden cable that you can get from Spruce or McFarlane. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/bowdencable.php Edited July 3, 2017 by N201MKTurbo 3
