It kinda does sound like it. There is no such thing as perfection with software. And this could be just as much Garmin's fault as it could be Avidyne's fault. But regardless, it comes with the territory. And in this case, Avidyne is certainly being responsive and working through the issue. Garmin is famous for just telling other vendors to piss off. So I'd be very thankful for what Avidyne's doing at this point.

I understand missing stuff and having bugs pop up after release, but saying it was a problem caused by a Garmin update, then following up and saying it was possible there was a update release after they submitted theirs is what I have an issue with. that is info they should have and be looking at for just this reason, having that info would allow them to say that Garmin made and update release Not Possibly!  if it was something missed by their software team when they wrote the code fess up and get it fixed no harm no foul.

I'm not Shooting the Messenger, in fact I like Avidyne, but when the messenger come, give an answer not maybes or possibilities.  he is representing the company, if they do not have an answer then say that and it is being worked on, don't throw BS out there.

I agree with the above posters. The important thing is they are working on the problem. I personally don't think avidyne is responsible to pay the shop time that was used to diagnose the problem but I feel they would overnight a pre 10.2 540 to @thinwing now that they know it's a problem.  Don't tell me your working on it...make the customer happy and get the bird in the air.

Actually, it's the contrary, so far it's looking like a G500 update has broken the connection between the IFD and G500. It's not a blame game here, we will found out what happen and make a fix in the next release.

Stop the BS man! How are you going to make your customer happy...today? How will you show your customer you value them? Expecting him to wait for you to figure out the problem and then for another release is not acceptable and unreasonable. How long do you expect your customer to be without use of his airplane while you are holding his money?

Development and internal testing of 10.2 ended months before 10.2 was FAA approved. At some point we have to lock down the release for any further changes. It's possible their release came out during that time.

AviSimpson,
Not to open up a can of worms but is Avidyne aware of any other connection faults? I'm looking at some avionic upgrades in the near future with my 440 and will be looking to add a 540.

And now that they know where the problem is with the G500 do they have a time frame of the fix? Will they be able to write a patch for it in days or will Thinwing have to wait for the 10.2.1?

I noticed Executive autopilots has an IFD 540 that I think still has the pre 10.2...what would happen if they config that one for my settings?Would issue go away?I have dual avadynes...what would happen if one was old software and one new?Than use old for takeoff new for advanced features and use the cdi GPS 1/2 select to choose between the two?

Either way the shop will get paid...they have taken care of me and they are a really busy shop...If Avadyne doesn't feel this is a warranty issue of two 5 month old IFD s I will personally pay for the diagnostics.

Peter reminds of someone who is unhappy with a purchase but will spend the rest of his life explaining loudly all of the benefits of his decision so that others will do exactly what he did.

Misery loves company, there's safety in numbers, you can pick your own adage.  His spiel is coming across as kinda stale and self-serving at this point.

lol, yes.

recently I was told that no money was allowed going to my plane until I had the new house finished enough to move in. we did not move in any quicker but the plane didn't get any money either. now i'm trying to make up for lost time and get the plane back in the air.

Yikes ,ok my prob is small...my RSO refuses to launch with the big red X....she has done this a lot ,is very smart ,so I can't bull shit her and tell her "oh it will come back on line on takeoff"cause she is looking at a wall of grey! She basically says f##k this rodeo ,I'm not playing! You are nuts to trust a bunch of code writers that don't personally have their asses on the line...that's the woman I married...what can I say!

Return it for a refund and get a GTN!

I don't think you're a sucker. I think you're too nice! Clearly avidyne is not ready for prime time. They may get there some day or they may not. But that's not your problem and they're not doing you any favors having paid all this money! You should have full utility of your airplane. Period.
