Im looking for a passenger PTT idea thats better than the old velcro'd button and dangling wire for the passenger side vintage yoke.  Lets see your pics!!

this is what I have now.  was wondering if anybody has done anything custom and better looking.

http://www.aircraftspruce.com/pages/av/ptt/asaPTTSwitch1.php

or has anybody used one of these http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/controlyoke_sx_101_1.php?clickkey=31456 its not exactly what I want but but Im having trouble imagining what else to try.

my pilot side is mounted custom on a plate that attaches under the clock bezel and the wires run down the yoke tube.  But obviously i dont have a cavity in the passenger side to run any wires and im not sure about drilling any thing into that magnesium/aluminum, legalities aside.

The challenge with the old copilot side is that it doesn't have the wire and tube holes that the pilot side has...

But, anyone that wanted to add wires while doing a nice leather project has found a way to sneak some wires and mount a push button switch and coat it in leather...

The added sheet metal on your pilot yoke is not original.  Some creativity has already been used on that side.  It is going to take a little more creativity to do it on the co pilot side...

Still held on with Velcro, but they don't migrate around and work well

yea I know my pilot side is not original.  somebody drilled a hole in the side of the yoke to fish the wires into the void where the clock sits as well so the wires would run down the yoke tube.  no voids on the passenger side to do that with though.  Ill come up with something creative and fancy!

with 3D printing and @RLCarter idea I think I may be onto something.

The plastic is 3/4" PVC pipe, just happen to be what was by the bench......lol. The Velco straps are computer/stereo wire wraps

The pilot yoke has has a hole for a vacuum tube that goes up the left horn.  Makes for a nice electronic button location.

It also comes with a giant hole for a clock though...  :)

My PTT button on the passenger side is mounted on the panel right next to where the jacks are for the headset. It would be nice to have it on the yoke, but it's easily accessible.

This is exactly how I did mine, but lower down. Easy for the right seater to have their hand on their knee and push the button to transmit.

That's where it is. The jacks are at the bottom of the panel and the button is just to the right of them. If the passenger is sitting close enough they can push the button with their hand on their knee.58c182e8aed79_PanelPhoto-1.thumb.jpg.56a101011919c01b08e7b05830490156.jpg

So if you put a pilot yoke on the co pilot side that would seem to help with fishing wires.

Yes. I have a pilot yoke on my co-pilot side.  When my pc system was installed I had dual pc disconnects and dual push to talk. I also have clocks in both yokes.

Looks nice! Please post a picture of your whole panel.  Someone did a really nice job on it.

This is how the PTT is on my right yoke. Underneath, it's just the coiled cord like on a phone. Let me know if you want more photos.yoke.thumb.JPG.76d1f514b4b20f2b037be81a5005b6ed.JPG

When I had my F I just used the Velcro switches for both the pilots and co-pilots sides. I wired them into the system. They were convenient and worked well for 20 years. I had mine set up on the bottom left arm pointing backwards. I would key it with my pinky. It felt so natural. When I got my 201 with the PTT on the top of the horn, it felt weird and took a while to get used to.

i cant tell what that plate is mounted to.  Is it just screwed into the back of the yoke?  whats that screw under the button doing?

and you need one of my yoke emblems!
