KSSI.  Southern Soul barbecue.  Worth it.

It may be good food, but St. Simons Island is a good hour's flight from North Georgia . . . to the southeast.

Thanks everyone.  Due to the fires the smoke was thick and obstructed the views.  Dodging temporary TFR's as well. Brief clearing in the smokey skies did provide for some nice fall colors.  I'll write down your suggestions and put them on my list of $100 hamburger stops.

Greenville (South Carolina) Downtown Airport ... right on the edge of the Mountains ...

Agreed. GMU has the runway cafe, outdoor seating, tasty burgers and an aviation themed playground for kids. Taxi your plane right up to it.

Andrews-Murphy (KRPH, now Western Carolina Regional) is a nice airport actually in the foothills and there is a BBQ not far away, with a crew car that will get you there.  It's a fun jaunt.
