Air conditioning weight

Anyone knows the weight of an air conditioning system on an ovation. Also is it removable the gain weight?

Are you asking if one can remove the belt driven compressor, all the refrigerant lines, and the hat-rack area mounted heat exchanger plus the controls on the lower panel?   Sure.  Then the W&B is revised by deleting all those parts listed and recalculating.   M20R Manual Rev 4-05 W&B section item 31J shows the weight at 66.1 pounds.

Christian, if you are going to remove the AC then pls report back and tell us how it went, how much it cost, etc.

I don't have active plans but have wondered about removing mine either to gain the useful load or to add FIKI. The 66lbs can make a real difference in whether or not to add a 3rd or 4th passenger !

I guess if you are from Quebec I could see the reason to remove the A/C. But here in Alabama, I find the 66# more valuable as an A/C than a 4th person!

It probably devaules the airplane 10-15K to remove it. And it costs money to remove it too.

It probably would be cheaper and easier just to ship a 66lb package to your destination.
My friend who flys commercial ships his golf bag just so he doesn't have to deal with it and savings from not paying extra luggage fees it almost comes out a wash.

I'd leave it in you never know when you will fly down south during the summer.
