The 3rd class medical reform is about to go past the President's desk and should be law this week. All we have to wait for is the FAA, and they're given 180 days to acknowledge it. Nope, problem is I was diagnosed with ADHD about 8 years ago right after starting college. I'm only 26 and in perfect health other than that stupid diagnosis. Fortunately my AME has most of the regional flight surgeons on speed dial and we basically were told that I'd get a 1-year special issuance the first time around and be set after that. If I read the AOPA FAQ correctly, the special issuance means you'll need to do the normal 3rd class medical process for 10 years. I'm in the same situation, I had special issuance the first time. gsxrpilot Posted July 13, 2016 Author Report Posted July 13, 2016 Interested as well but I have to wait to hear back on my 3rd class medical... I'm in the market for a bird I can use to finish my ppl (already have a sport cert), and then use as a time builder / nice XC platform. I do wish I could find something that's been turbo-normalized just to deal with the 12,000' DA days we get here at my home base. What is your useful load? 998.5 useful load 1 Quote

If everything looks good then they will just issue a standard 3rd-class. 38 minutes ago, gsxrpilot said: 998.5 useful load Excellent, enough for a full tank of gas, two normal sized guys, and several weeks worth of mountaineering expedition gear! Supercop0184 Posted July 14, 2016 Report Posted July 14, 2016 One flight in Paul's C made me fall in love. With the plane NOT Paul! I gotta say I grabbed a nice one myself, but I'll be a little jealous of who gets this one. GL Paul! Nice bird for sure! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote

My wife and I went in vacation for ten days, with multiple stops, loaded to the ceiling from just behind our heads all the way back. We also travel like that at Christmas. Short bodies work just fine. I've also carried three guys on a 1-1/2 hour flight; no one complained, but everyone was glad to get out and stretch. My UL = 969, so Paul's is pretty good. This will be a wonderful, versatile plane for a lucky person! 1 Quote
1524J Posted July 15, 2016 Report Posted July 15, 2016 I don't know Paul.....I think it's too nice for the asking price. I'd be willing to trade straight across, my old and decrepit "C" yokes for your 201 yokes. That'll give the new owner something to look forward to improving on an otherwise perfect C model plane. 1 Quote
Mcoyne34 Posted July 15, 2016 Report Posted July 15, 2016 Pending in 2 weeks?? Congratulations 2 Quote
bonal Posted July 15, 2016 Report Posted July 15, 2016 I still think your crazy to sell what is obviously one of the nicest C's good luck on your future model. 1 Quote
Danb Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 Alex I thought I was alone with your diagnosis, mine is left eye, was told you'll never be a pilot, I got my soda in the early 80's and never had a problem except with Ame nurses who keep trying to get me to see stuff with my bad eye that's the frustrating part. 3 Quote
gsxrpilot Posted July 27, 2016 Author Report Posted July 27, 2016 So just to wrap up this thread. N6XM has been sold and delivered. I've never been so reluctant to sell a vehicle in my life. I flew over 6000 nautical miles in July without a single squawk. It might have just given up the perfect M20C. But I'm not one to have regrets, so I'm off to look at a 252 tomorrow. It's been about an hour and it's already uncomfortable to be without an airplane. 7 Quote
