Greetings gang!

I hope you'll permit me to lurk and participate from time to time on your very nice forum.

I was made aware of mooneyspace.com in a email to our support dept from Eldon aka jezzie as he has been taking a look at some of our products.  Very best regards to you all and I look forward to making some new friends.

Very best regards,

Hello Matt,

I am helping EI have a nice X-Mas.  In last six months have purchased (via AC Spruce) approximately $2500 in EI products.  Thanks for participating on MooneySpace.  Looking forward to flying behind more of your products. Tach is being special ordered as we speak.  The turn-around on other "special order" customized instruments from EI has been prompt.  Much appreciated!

Hi Matt,

Welcome to the forum! It's always good to hear from the manufacturers of the goodies we put in our planes. I bought one of your MVP-50s at the AOPA Summit last weekend and the guy working the booth (sorry, I can't remember his name) gave me your card to call with questions. Well, I was just getting ready to call with a logistics question, but since you are here, I can ask you on the forum and maybe somebody else will learn something too.

I got sent the questionaire today by Pacific Coast Avionics to fill out and get back to you guys so you can build my unit. All seems pretty straight forward except for two things.

1) The info on the FAA approved mechanic that is going to do the install. I don't know who that is yet. I'm still looking for a shop to do my panel rebuild. Do you need this info to build the unit and send it to me, or can I get this to you later?

2) The tach time. I'm not sure when the install will actually happen, so I don't know what to tell you. I want to keep flying my plane in the mean time. Maybe there is a way to just shelve my order until I really need it? Right now I'm almost thinking of not starting the panel job until after the holidays in January. It seems the holidays will just add delay to my project and have my plane sitting in peices even longer.

The only reason I bought when I did was I wanted the show discount and I really wanted my mind made up. Now come s the tough part of finding an avionics shop to do the job, oh and find a Sandel 3500 used real cheap somewhere!

I have an Insight 602 with bars, but no numbers. JPI has offered to swap instruments with me for an EDM 700, for under $1000. This is a basic instrument but does tell me the digital temperatures. Any reason I should not take them up on it.

Thanks for the clarification Matt.  I think most everyone knew that you could obtin EI products for significantly LESS than suggested retail...like every product through Spruce or other avionics vendors.  I found it hard to believe that you would under-cut your volume seller (Spruce) by 28%.  Although with prices of avionics (everything aviation) where they are it would have been awesome...

Matt.

Customer service I received form EI a couple of days ago was #1.  You all definately have customer satisfaction in mind.  Most helpful to me, since I only needed a couple of mag. isolators for the R-1 tachometer.

It was terrific to speak to a real helpful person.............YOU.

Thanks again and welcome to MooneySpace.

He's still here.  I saw he posted to Scott's upgrade post last week or the week before.  I finally broke down and I'm putting in the UBG-16 and FP-5L next week.  Got them from Aircraft Spruce, which carry EI stuff at the lowest prices I could find.

Hi Matt,

Do you have a shop in California that you would recommend for installing your products? I'm having a problem finding a shop that is very interested in my panel job. I'm new to airplane ownership, so I'm kind of shocked that I'm soliciting bids for a panel redo that will no doubt cost me over $10,000 and I'm getting the cold shoulder from nearly everyone.

Is it because I have a vintage Mooney? Is it because I have already purchased much of the equipment I need? Do shops really make that much off selling gear?

Dave,

Wow, I never had a refusal for a bid on the panel upgrade when I was looking.  I even went out of state for bids.

The shop that is installing my EI stuff told me it would be better for me to buy it online and drop ship it to them for the install.  When I was there before I left, there was a C182 that was in for work from California, so apparently you're not the only one having trouble.
