kpaul Posted May 9, 2016 Report Posted May 9, 2016 Another lucky pilot survives what could have been a deadly accident, this one in reminiscent of the Cirus that used the chute and landed in the industrial park, this guy ends up on a roof. http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/small-plane-down-57-freeway-pomona-378588266.html
Steveolyo Posted May 9, 2016 Report Posted May 9, 2016 Glad he's alright. I wonder if he was going for the parking lot, if not I wonder if trees, wires, etc kept him off of that. Not second guessing here though, surviving gets him an A on this test.
carusoam Posted May 9, 2016 Report Posted May 9, 2016 Landing roll of about 10'...? That is a lot of energy dissipation over a really short distance. Must have got it slowed way down without stalling...? A good piece of luck went with that. Best regards, -a-
Samurai Husky Posted May 9, 2016 Report Posted May 9, 2016 My guess is he did stall into the building. I sure wouldnt think to crash land into a roof of a building, especially that one when there is a large concrete wall just feet in front of you. If you look at where it crashed on google maps, he was probably trying to make it over the highway and into the field on the other side. https://www.google.com/maps/place/California+Department+of+Corrections/@34.060217,-117.8061076,660m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m8!1m2!2m1!1spomona+ca+sate+parol+board!3m4!1s0x0000000000000000:0x72af7d1ac3bce653!8m2!3d34.0609475!4d-117.8036311 unless there were cars in the parking lot, that would have been a better choice. Not the parking lot where he went down, but the one father north east, where he might of had a little more time and altitude to put it down before stalling.

Guest Posted May 9, 2016 Report Posted May 9, 2016 That got to be one of the most accurate spot landings of all time. Glad he's around to fly another day. Clarence
