Some great times had chasing birds by Traverse City.  Some not so great times at Grayling...Always fun at Traverse City Holiday Inn though!

Not sure what the chasing birds means, but if you've spent any time in Grayling, I don't envy you.  Were you National Guard?

Now back to the O.P., any more surprises or are you out of the shop now?

You are right, I apologize. I had been setting in the lobby of the urgent care place down the street with a banged up knee for over three hours, I was in a pissy mood...

no worries...that right there is the response of an adult, and i appreciate it. good luck with the knee.

Thanks, spectacular bicycle crash! Chain came off the front sprocket while I was putting 110% power to the pedals off the seat. Right foot came down hard, unclipped, thigh hit the top tube with great force then me and the bike skidded into a curb at about 27 MPH!

I've seen this happen with a bent derailleur hanger.  --Let me rephrase that:  I've experienced it, minus the curb, on a few occasions.  I raced mountain bikes for years.  Much lower speeds, but way more crashes (and bent hangers).

Ouch. I hate it when that happens. I tend to throw chains off road more than on road.

The observation that observation of comming trouble spots has avoided problems is so spot on. And it's just mechanicly and physically a little harder to do on the Mooney.  Then there's the mental problem of "seeing".  We've seen all this stuff before so it's not worth looking at again.  Sometimes I have a hard time getting in the right frame of mind to look.  I'll play a couple of mental games. One is to pick a perspective and look at every thing in the field of view: every connection, every attach point, mating surface, every gasket, every fastener, every Tye rap.  Then move and do it again.

Another trick is to follow every system to its distal points.

Another trick is to get somebody else to look at your motor.  I see stuff on my friends engines that they don't see and vice a versa.

All of these are very worthwhile exercises that can save money and prevent breakdowns, increase dispatch reliability and safety.

Lots of eyes passed over that hose fitting, it was a while till someone saw it.

When I first read about his banged up knee all I could think was that he made the rookie mistake of...

trying to lift one of these beauties.

Glad to hear no plus sizes were injured. Also happy to hear it was only a banged up knee. A chain break could have easily put him over the handle bars head first.

She's no Tramp....She hath no stamp! :)

Yes she does, she just planned for the future and got it on her back. At "market weight" it'll have migrated south into position.
