Thoughts...

1) there is a speed that makes the gear go down really easily. It isn't very fast.  It is good to know this already.  Or was my C special?  Landing gear-up is a great option.  It simplifies many things....even after the landing things...

2) If you are having a heart attack (depending on severity) you may get a lot of time to put some next steps in motion.  It could be like 'time of useful consiousness' only you get plenty of warning that you are running low on oxygen.

3) At the moment you are having a heart-attack you are patting yourself on the back for all the preparations you have taken.

4) If you live...  The last thing you will care to remember... Where did I leave my plane?  Followed by how am I going to get it back home...

5) Getting the wife trained allows her the comfort to sleep.  When she is really comfortable she starts pointing out all the other really cool Mooneys that are for sale.  The ones she points out are better equipped than the one you have. Sense the route to an upgrade...

6) One really cool dad let his teenage son fly the family Mooney around the world, solo... (I'm not that cool)

7) It is impossible to teach your own family how to drive a car, never mind fly your only Mooney.  Especially your last Mooney...

There was nothing but upside from having somebody teaching my wife how to land the plane.

Getting the ball rolling may be different for different people.  I think I made a gift certificate to go along with some other expensive gift over a non-descript holiday like Valentine's Day.

We could always use 201er for an example.  Mrs. 201er isn't a pilot yet, is she?

2016, the year of fresh pants, newlyweds, and able copilots....?

All good thoughts except one.. Never try to disguise something you want for yourself as a gift to your SO.  We can see right through it.

I've never been good at hiding these things...

That explains why it took a decade to start looking for a nicer plane. :)

One of these days I'm/she is going to have to go through this training again. Trying to work the details for an East Coast visit with Jolie and Jan...

Best regards,

My wife loves to fly with me and that's pretty damn good I have tried to get here to take the yoke to no avail.  I'll just have to wait till after we land to become incapacitated.

Give her the left seat.  It isn't so bad.

You are so right Byron and I feel so embarrassed I apparently don't know my right from my left from what I wrote. Of course I meant she owns the left seat, pilot seat, ever since we got "her" seat outfitted with the rudder pedal extensions and I am permanently in the right - except for the occasional solo. But of course its so worth it!!!
