Hi all,  I want to install a CGR-30P, a Sandel 3500 and a 430 in my M20E at KSEE but can't find anyone to do it. One shop I've been to and talked with the owner 4 times who says he'll get back to me but never does. Another shop says they will only install new avionics that I buy from them because they make more money that way. No shop is helping.

Does anyone know an independent avionics guy in San Diego who can install for me at its hangar? My plane is in a big hangar with lots of space, bathroom, etc, and I have lots of time on my hands to help. Thanks

Lake aero flew there IA and avionics guy overseas to install some new panel equipment Europe and Australia I believe. SoCal is a lot closer. You might give them a call.

Thermal has a good avionics shop from what I hear. No personal experience with them.  If that works out for you I would be happy to pick you and drop you off when you leave your plane. I'm out in the area all the time. I have used Joe at CrownAir(KMYF) many times. They have installed used equipment for me but it has to have a yellow tag and they put some small arbitrary charge since you didn't buy new from them.  They are so busy though that might have changed.

thanks everybody! Some of the shops mentioned I have tried.  I think I found someone who can do the wiring and I can do install with me in my hangar so if no shop gets back to me I'll go that route.

I second Howard Aviation at Brackett (909) 593-2596. Robin and his staff are great to work with. He upgraded my 430 to WAAS and added a KT74 (ADS-B) last year. Hopefully, tomorrow I'll pickup my plane with a new S-TEC a/p.

Please, please, please do yourself a huge favor and call Jeff at High Desert Avionics in Lancaster (WJF).  A bit of a flight, but well worth it.

I have used Jeff twice, once to install a GTN-650 in a club airplane and just a few weeks ago to install a GNS-430W and GMA-340 audio panel + intercom in my G-model.  Both quotes came in literally thousands of dollars less than the competition, and he sticks to the quote.

If you don't mind me asking. What did it cost to do your a/p? And what options did you get?
