Hank Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 Good to know. If it's "just a Mooney," then fixing it should be quick and easy, and he won't mind paying for it. Never go back once they're done . . .
PTK Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 Unbelievable! As you probably know there's an MSC there as well. C&W Aero. No first hand experience with them but spoken on the phone with them a couple of times. I was impressed both times. Very nice and eager to help.
Jim Peace Posted August 8, 2015 Author Report Posted August 8, 2015 As you probably know there's an MSC tjere as well. C&W Aero. Very good and always eager to help. Yes they have been working on my plane since it has been at the field. Sean, the owner, is good to work with......... 1

Looks like there might be potential here 525 hmmm food for thought Where do you get access to water? I don't think I've seen a hose faucet at an airport that wasn't at the FBO, Although I haven't look very hard. There are car services that come to your car, the carry water and generators.
gsxrpilot Posted August 9, 2015 Report Posted August 9, 2015 My Mooney is hangered at 84R. There is water on premise. I'll book when you're ready to get that business started :-)
Hector Posted August 9, 2015 Report Posted August 9, 2015 For 525 he better do a hell of a job. For that king of money I would expect a complete wash, clay bar, orbital buffer with cleaning compound, followed by polishing compound, and finally wax.
bonal Posted August 9, 2015 Report Posted August 9, 2015 The thought had occurred to me retirement is still a ways off but I can tell you I would treat your aircraft with total respect and you would never find a broken antenna I can't think of a better person to do this sort of work than someone who is an owner opporator themselves 1
Jim Peace Posted August 9, 2015 Author Report Posted August 9, 2015 The thought had occurred to me retirement is still a ways off but I can tell you I would treat your aircraft with total respect and you would never find a broken antenna I can't think of a better person to do this sort of work than someone who is an owner opporator themselves It is not even the broken antenna that bugs me. I have been doing this for 28 years. I know that airplanes break especially when being washed and detailed. What kills me is that about a month ago when I first met the guy who would be doing the service I wanted to see his equipment and facilities. I specifically told him that I do not care if something breaks. I just want to know about it ASAP. And we know the rest of the story. My plane has an open checkbook for mx. I just hate not being told about stuff that an airplane owner needs to know. It is frustrating. I live outside the lower 48 and I spend most of my time overseas. I get about one weekend a month to fly. I usually put on about 4 to 6 hours in a few days. With my current schedule my plane will go past 2 months without flying. Not healthy for the engine and other components.
Jim Peace Posted August 9, 2015 Author Report Posted August 9, 2015 What makes Caldwell attractive? -a- Teterboro would be the closest to make life easy but single engine GA is basically not welcome there anymore for a base customer. Lincoln park is a nice airport but I am away a lot and they have ZERO security. anyone can drive up and walk around the airport 24/7, plus I do not like all the trees so close by. Also it is further then caldwell. So CDW is my best option. It is only until the the threat of snow then it is on to a warmer state for the winter months......
carusoam Posted August 9, 2015 Report Posted August 9, 2015 Hangars are good for security. Best regards, -a-

Danb Posted August 9, 2015 Report Posted August 9, 2015 Geez what's the fuss it's only a Mooney WTF...F. Them
Danb Posted August 9, 2015 Report Posted August 9, 2015 Jim mentioned Teterboro...why don't these airports put up a big billboard on final your little get the hell out of here... I had a Drs appt. early last week in Baltimore area, so I hopped on my Bravo I did not want to deal with the traffic.. Well the fees were $98...and fuel $8.96 Like I stated just tell us to stay away...Signature folks were nice though, they had no clue what a mooney was and had to look it up to charge me..geez it's just a Mooney n
neilpilot Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 Hi Jim, I was the Mooney who arrived at CDW and looked at your damage. Did you confirm that it was the TPX antenna? You need to know that I just retired last weekend, and If I had known the cost of a wash and wax I would have flown up from Memphis with all the required supplies, including water. I switched from MMU to CDW & Air Bound for my last few arrivals (I fly into NJ 2-4 times a year). Considering the normal poor service attitude I find in the Metro area, Air Bound is actually my preference. Sorry for your damage.

Still no word from the owner of Air Bound. I was grounded the whole weekend and now will not be able to fly for another month. If you are going to Air Bound for just fuel it may be OK, just supervise it, but I would not want them to do anything else for you. Thank you for taking the time to check my plane out...... Jim
MyNameIsNobody Posted August 11, 2015 Report Posted August 11, 2015 Geez what's the fuss it's only a Mooney WTF...F. Them I am just different (as you all know). If that owner said that to me I would have hung up the phone and during a face to face he likely would have gotten a little spittle on his face while I explained the finer points of a contract for service, customer expectations, what I think of his comment regarding my aircraft that is VERY special to me... Oh well, I am just different.
