StinkBug Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 The way the report reads there was no runway incursion. Another plane on the runway on their takeoff roll, if cleared to do so, is NOT an incursion. Quote
Shadrach Posted August 11, 2015 Report Posted August 11, 2015 Did the report say anything about an aircraft cleared for take off? I missed that. What I got was the accident pilot seeing a twin pull onto the runway while he was in the middle of the right base leg of a tight pattern and then subsequently getting an to continue the approach with an amended TDZ that was a 1/4 mile closer than his original TDZ. I also read a BT member basically say that the approach was FUBAR, and that the turn was to tight. The FISK arrival is what it is, I've not flown it, but you don't choose your down wind or your base, it's published and that's what is flown unless the controller says otherwise. It look more like a 180 from downwind rather than a base to final. Quote
gsxrpilot Posted August 11, 2015 Report Posted August 11, 2015 It sure looks to me like with a lot going on both visually and on the radio, the pilot forgot to fly the airplane. I think that's one thing that sets us apart from the general population. No matter how much is going on around us, we should be able to keep everything organized. And that includes keeping priorities straight. On the first long cross country with my wife, we were talking and listening to music in the back ground. My wife noticed that no matter what was going on, if "6 Xray Mike" came over the radio, I jumped right on it. She said, "ok, cool now I know how to get you attention at home when you're ignoring me." "Instead of hey Paul, it's hey 6 Xray Mike!" Pilots have to keep all the important stuff in order at all times. And it appears that unfortunately this particular pilot got a few items out of order...
