I was not overly impressed with the D2 watch. I thought it was an expensive gimmick, more in-your-face technology looking for a home.

But the Bravo is interesting, if also expensive like everything Garmin makes. It's reasonably attractive, looks more like an actual watch than the D2 does, and has some useful functions.

I don't think I'd buy one, but would be happy to get one as a gift. As long as it didn't come out of my wallet - somehow the gifts in my family always seem to, but that's another discussion.

How is the battery life?

I got an early Garmin GPS watch. The chance of having enough time to charge it before using it is slim.

The chance of it being charged is slim.

It is a bit bulky, and hard to remember how to get through the menus.

In the end, the iPhone goes with me on jogs, charges quickly, stays charged all day. But can't handle long GPS navigation either...

I have wingX on my phone.

Looking forward to the next update for the Iwatch...

Setting altitude alerts and waypoints. Gentle reminders on your wrist....

Best regards,

I have the Citizen Blue Angels Eco-Drive since 2004. It charges with ambient light. It had never stopped working. It only gains one second per month. Best watch I ever had. Mine is Titanium which lightens the weight considerably. Strongly recommend them.

$699!!!!

It's more expensive than Aera 500!?

Personally, I will get a Apple Watch instead. Few apps are now developing apps for Apple Watch and I can see the only thing Apple Watch can't do in the future is the baro altimeter.

I'll tell you, wearable computers are going to be a big thing.  Yet another example that the older we get, the closer we get to the technologies that Gene Roddenberry envisioned in Star Trek. But I see two problems with all this, only one of which will probably be fixed.  1) Battery life.  Most people don't expect a watch to have to get charged up every day, although I'm sure batteries will improve, and people will adapt. 2) My eyes and hesitation to wear glasses constantly.  I'm at that wonderful phase where I do wear drugstore readers only for close-in work, but otherwise I'm fine. So I would hate having to put on glasses just to work my watch.

I like my nice big Breitling AOPA Navitimer with the analog dials that I can see just fine. Luckily, I'm not relying on the E-6B functions in the bezel for any reason, or it would violate my rules above (although I do futz with it from time to time, and it is generally amazing how much computing power they figured out how to put into an E-6B).

Honestly I'm fairly happy with the Pebble. My main face is local and Zulu times. Buzzes when I get a message. Has an app called 'MultiTimer' which does exactly what it says, I can set multiple timers both count up and down so I have a 30 minute check fuel/tanks reminder and another one for approaches/holds. Battery life in the multiple days.

I just saw an article from Sporty's on the new Apple watch being used with some of the aviation apps. Didn't read it but curious what it does compared to this new Garmin.

I'm sure this gets me permanently banned from the CB club, but I like my Rolex Explorer 2. It is easy to read and has a GMT/Zulu hand as well. I'm a technology geek and always get suckered in by the latest gadget especially if it's from Apple. But I just can't see getting the watch. The next watch I'd get would be the Navitimer or a Bell&Ross.

Holy crap Batman! What other deep dark secrets is this guy hiding from us? A Rolex! I have seen a picture of one of them once. :)

I could not agree more! Despite being a technology fan (look at my panel!) I have difficulties seeing the utility of one of those gadgets. I bought my Rolex in 1991 and I have been using it since then. I love it. I have looked at the apple and the Garmin watches but I just can't see me getting one. I can't see their utility..

I am "King of this CB Club"... I had a knock-off Rolex I bought in the mean streets of Memphis in 1986. It even had the sweeping second hand, we all know a ticking second hand is the give away of a knock off Rolex, if you are gonna fake it, fake it right :P..It was long lost after the college years. Impressed the shiz out of the college girls though.  :D

Now much older and wiser..Just me and my trusty Timex. We take a lickin' keep on tickin'.
