lclyons Posted April 26, 2015 Report Posted April 26, 2015 Hi, I'm thinking of selling the following out of my 2001 Eagle2: -- Mortiz guages, both electronic and analog boxes -- fuel sending units for both left and right tanks -- JPI EDM-700 w fuel flow, fits the smaller hole -- McCaulley 3 blade Ovation prop, 720 total, less than 50 since overhaul. Can anyone help me figure it out what these items are worth and where the best place to sell them would be? I recently upgraded to a Screaming Eagle. All of the above was replaced as part of the upgrade and was working well when removed. Thanks! Quote

All of the above was replaced as part of the upgrade and was working well when removed. Thanks! From my recent experiences, I can take part of your question. Your 3-blade MacCauley is probably worth between $1000 and $2000 depending on physical condition and whether it's due for O/H. Mine had 1036 hours on it and needed OH by calendar year only. It sold for about $1300. Your EDM700 is probably worth around $1000. Whomever purchases it would be best-served by buying new CHT and EGT probes before reinstalling into another aircraft, so this may be a point of concern in negotiating your final price. As you know, the config can be changed to a 4-cylinder installation if needed and works for both 12 and 24-volt applications. Can't offer anything first-hand on the Moritz cluster, but based on previous 3rd-party knowledge, I'd say a good working cluster could fetch about $750-$1000. Again, this is an uneducated guess...others here could weigh in. Curious as to why your fuel senders are coming out in working order. Are you replacing them with digital/non-resistive (like something from CIES, Inc.)? Regards, Steven Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted April 26, 2015 Report Posted April 26, 2015 $2000 seems kinda cheap for the prop, I would think it would be more like $4000 to $5000 Quote

StevenL757 Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 $2000 seems kinda cheap for the prop, I would think it would be more like $4000 to $5000 Given his prop has ~700TT and 50 SOH, you're probably right...he actually may get more. My MacCauley also had no damage, but was never overhauled. It also had about 330 more hours. The market was a bit tougher when I sold mine as well. With everyone getting into new metal and composite props these days, I wanted to be realistic as to what he could possibly expect, since no one is really buying these older MacCauleys. Quote
lclyons Posted April 27, 2015 Author Report Posted April 27, 2015 Where is the best place to try to sell it? Barnstormers? eBay? Here? Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 Considering it costs about $2000 to get one overhauled, an overhauled prop should be worth more than the overhaul cost. I just looked on line and new ones are $12000 to $14500. There is a two blade ovation prop on EBAY for $4000, so if you aren't in a big hurry to sell it you should be able to get at least that much. Bob Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 Not sure what your prop is worth but a current cost on a McCauley 3 blade overhaul is closer to $3000. A prop that needs an overhaul, I would never buy due to the expensive unknowns. You may be buying a prop that needs a couple blades or a hub (about5K)? I would think that your prop would have some good value due to blade spec sheets from the recent overhaul and also the low time. A new McCauley is about 13K. Quote
Bob Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 I do not know anything about this company, but ran across them while doing my own research. May want to talk to them? propellerpartsmarket.com Quote
