Shadrach Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 If someone wants to kill themselves, then do it. There is no need to force others to die with you. If you can't handle using a gun or pills, then drive the car you own into a bridge support with your foot to the floor. Doing the same while driving a school bus is just dumb. This was mass murder. I do not care how it is spun by the talking heads. The suicide was merely a byproduct... 6 Quote
Guest Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 Maybe the air Marshall needs to be in the flight deck as well as the cabin. Clarence Quote
Oscar Avalle Posted March 27, 2015 Author Report Posted March 27, 2015 The enforcement in Europe of the US rule of two people in the cockpit (flight attendant has to stay in the cockpit while one of the pilots leaves) may have averted this tragedy, or at least made it harder to implement... Quote
Hank Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 And it looks like that is the direction the EU is looking at going, plus pilots will need "medical and psychological evaluation" . . . Quote
mike_elliott Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 A bunch of kids didn't get a chance to live their lives because of the selfish action of one individual who was in a position that required trust and faith. They and their parents and loved ones entrusted their most precious cargo to them. THAT is a tragedy that money will never remedy. It certainly is a tragedy, but it is only speculation the co pilot "did it". So far, he is posthumously being tried very successfully in the media and also here. I wonder if Airbus has any "input" on this speculation? Quote
AndyFromCB Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 There are two dudes or dudettes at a minimum in the cockpit monitoring the situation. I have no issue with that. Remove the dudes and dudettes and I don't feel the same. What are they monitoring? There is nothing to monitor. You can't see anything…Are they looking at core dumps of the autopilot code, Matrix style? Think about it... Quote

I wonder if Airbus has any "input" on this speculation? Here are the "facts" as communicated to media outlets from individuals that reviewed audio recovered: -Pilot out of locked cabin. Pilot tried to re-enter. Sounds of escallating attempts to re-enter locked cockpit. Doors have re-entry code that CAN be overridden by individual in cockpit. -Normal respiration audible from within the cockpit with no response. -Recent "convert" to Muslim. Same location as Atta. Muslim "stuff" on his facebook page. (edit-appears to be WRONG-Depression? Loss of Girlfriend?....) Yes, it's speculation. If it walks and quacks like a duck... You won't have to tell me when/if I am wrong. I will retract my "conjecture". (retraction/edit above) 1 Quote
chrisk Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 I don't fly for an airline, but I am just curious if it is possible that the captain forgot the code? Maybe it was in his flight bag up front? Is it something that gets set every time a pilot starts out for the day? 1 Quote

The "muslim convert" thing is news to me, what was your source for that? Nobody is reporting it, neither CNN nor Fox. By all accounts it appears that he was "troubled" and was under some sort of psychiatric care, more of which we will probably learn about in the coming days. If he had a recent setback (women, money etc) then that could account for his behaviour. Quote
MyNameIsNobody Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 Our "Trial" here is not legally binding... It/the re-communication of information and connecting of the dots that implicates the Co-Pilot is what it is. I am just following and re-communicating what I have read. My "judgement" is what it is, based on what has been communicated. If it was an aircraft failure, or pilot error THEN I am waiting for more information. This just appears to be killing a lot of innocent travelers because he had the opportunity and desire to do so. Quote

PTK Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 Andreas Lubitz had psychological issues. Had to take an 11 month break from his training in Arizona. His medical was designated SIC for regular medical care. Had medical papers excusing him from work which he destroyed on a regular basis and never shared with his employer. Most recently he was suffering from severe depression due to a break up with his significant other after 7 years. Quote

PTK Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 Of course now we'll hear the usual mantra of how "peaceful" Islam is and that he was just a mentaly disturbed individual! Converts are dangerous because they can go unsuspected and hide easily. Quote
