Swissmooney Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 Hi everybody I just read Mike Busch's MANIFESTO and am totally convinced about his approach to maintenance and therefore changed the swissmooney from Hb-DGL to N731CW I have installed a GEM610 engine monitor and would lime to download now data to let them analyzed by savvy analysis. However I have no idea on how to do that! The original way was via IR to a HP palmtop. But I do not have such an antique piece. Does anybody know how to do that?? Savvy analysis has also no idea and the manufacturer insight does not answer the mails! Thanks for your help and kind regards Heinz Quote
orionflt Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 hate to tell you this, but downloading to the HP is the only way for that monitor. and like you said the palmtop is an antique. Brian Quote
FBCK Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 Go to Ebay and pick on up, $20-30 (Palm Pilot that is), I dont know about the software however. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1311.R1.TR8.TRC1.A0.H1.Xpalm+pilot&_nkw=palm+pilot&_sacat=0 Quote
Awful_Charlie Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 I had one of those in a previous aircraft. I managed to find some software, and spent a little time trying to get it to work on an old WinCE device I found in the cupboard without success. I got a bit further with an ancient Laptop from the same place and an incarnation of windows (can't remember, probably XP), but in the end, ditched the GEM and went JPI (with USB) If you want to try yourself, I can probably find the software! Schoenes gluck! Ben Quote
orionflt Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 you can also try an older PC (older then a pentium II) running a dos based system (windows 3.1-95) if i understand it correctly the gemcom program is already loaded on the Data card (assuming it is original and hasn't been corrupted). any way you look at it, the monitor is great for using in the plane, but not very friendly for trending. Swissmooney Posted February 11, 2015 Author Report Posted February 11, 2015 Thank you for all the advice I think some suggestions will not work due to the missig IR connectivity required for downloading And I have read the instructions on how to load the GEM-COM....and after 3 pages I gave up...it reminds me of ASCII and punchcards and I think I do not have the required nerves for that...so I am considering a trade in for a G2 of insight Anybody having experience with that and a comparison with the JPI....are they different?? Thanks again and happy landings Heinz Quote
carusoam Posted February 11, 2015 Report Posted February 11, 2015 the Insight device has some attributes that are worth considering... a lot of data displayed on one HD page. Memory challenge... I think the lean function includes FF data at peak for each cylinder. Good for easy GAMI spreads... I saw this in a NJ Mooney about a year ago...? My JPI device is coming up on 20 years of age. Downloading data from it has become too painful. best regards, -a- Quote
