Anybody using the smart phone RPM apps?

Just wondering if anybody had used the auditory or the strobe RPM apps for smart phone? Is one any better than the other? Do they work? Are they accurate?

Yes, I've been using engine rpm for a couple of years. It always matched the jpi.

I wasn't so lucky. Don't know whether the wind noise was too much, but my Engine RPM never settled down to a fixed rpm. It was always chasing all over the place, giving all sorts of readings.

Yes it's audio based. I've had trouble with it in various vehicles, some works some don't, but it has always worked in the plane.

Try the manual mode. There is also an option in the config to use a different method.
