Tommy Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Hi guys just a very quick question. What does it mean when no trim flashes nor aural warning tones when you press test button on KFC 200 A/P system? The light bulb is working as well as the sonalertt Thanks!
carusoam Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Tommy, Remind me, 1) avionics are powered up? Electric trim is on? 2) KFC is on? 3) test button pushed? 4) 10 seconds later, results are given? 5) count the beeps. They are evenly spaced. It is challenging, but if one is missing, that is the tell. This is from my crusted memory of a KAP system. Similar but possibly different. The part I remember most, if the trim switch isn't on, the whole test procedure fails.... Best regards, -a-
DAVIDWH Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Probably not the same issue, however when my trim test button failed to light I traced it to a trim toggle sw. in the off position located near fuel pump and pitot heat switches. Evidently, was turned off by mechanic while adj. the seat rails. Go figure. Keep in mind, this test checks a multitude of circuitry and must be performed after power is applied and before autopilot can be engaged. Flight director is functional without the trim light functioning. Could be a cold solder connection, failing resistor or you name it. For expert consultation, contact Barry at Autopilots Central in Tulsa or Larry at Sarasota avionics. 918-836-6418, 866-539-4078 Best, DH
Tommy Posted October 27, 2014 Author Report Posted October 27, 2014 Engine on, master on, avionics on. Eletric trim rocker switch on. All breakers in. Manual electric trim working. KFC 200 system Press the test button on the mode computer - no beeps no trim warning flashes. Two pitch servos - old and new - both the same. The new one seems to be able to pull the yoke when UP command is pressed with FD/AP but not down. The old one did nothing at all. Going for a longish flight tomorrow and will put the new pitch servo to test!
Tommy Posted October 27, 2014 Author Report Posted October 27, 2014 This is what the panel looks like when "test" button was pressed. Eletric trim switch is on
Tommy Posted October 28, 2014 Author Report Posted October 28, 2014 Ok guys. I did a long flight today and put the new pitch servo to the test. Disappointingly it doesn't really do much except now it seems the servo is pithcing up the aircraft no matter what FD is commanding (the old pitch servo simply does nothing). No pitch down movement (with or without ALT hold) and no auto-trim either. I think it's time to pay an avioinic engineer a visit...
