According to a weighing certificate on my m20j, the empty weight is 1983 lb. It sounds a bit heavy. Is it normal or shall I get it checked. All the previous ones I looked at where about 1830...

Mine is 1887, also with a 3-blade prop and a few avionics extras.  1930 would be a stretch I think.

My little '66E with I pc belly, speed brakes, bladders, Scimitar prop is 1660 (w/o oil, fuel). (The original factory weight was 1611 w/o oil fuel.)

I would think a J would be at least 100 # heavier than my factory weight.

I think I have every speed mod, plus speed brakes, and you're correct, 1802,

I'm hoping to lose some weight during my avionics upgrade.

My new panel saved 17#. Removed ADF, KNS80, etc.

Maybe it was weighed next to the gravational pull of C182?
