garysuperpilot Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 Going down to fort Lauderdale next week to pick up a cruise with my wife. I was wondering which fbo's (looking at fxe) you may have used in the past. Not used to so many choices in my neck of the woods. Thanks Quote
Piloto Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 Best is Banyan Air Service http://www.banyanair.com/ Adjacent to their ramp is the biggest Pilot Shop I have seen http://www.banyanpilotshop.net/ And Premier Aircraft Service which is a Mooney Service Center http://www.flypas.com/ And Jet Cafe http://jetrunwaycafe.com/ with very good reasonable lunch menu. All the above within walking distance from their ramp Have a good trip José 1 Quote
Danb Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 Agree. Banyan Air. Great fob and pilot shop..also premiere mooney svc center next door. Arguably the best in the country. Have a great trip... Quote
Parker_Woodruff Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 Banyan is the best option. Quote
flyboy0681 Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Banyan is best. New facilities, and as Jose said, great pilot shop. Quote
garysuperpilot Posted February 23, 2014 Author Report Posted February 23, 2014 Thanks everyone. Sounds unanimous. I'll check it out. The great thing about going on vacation with the plane is the ride there and back. Don't remember ever getting this excited about driving 800 miles two ways. Longest trip with the Money so far. Quote
AmigOne Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 I launched several ferry trips to South America from Banyan but I was not paying for the fuel and I have a couple of friends who work there. On my own I'd stay at W Aviation or Sano where the fuel is $1.50/gl cheaper!!. Banyan's pilot shop is great but it is also open to everybody. Quote
jetdriven Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 I've only been to Sano but their fuel prices are great and they have a nice facility and are very professional. If you have to go to customs they are convenient as well, right next door. Quote
fantom Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Bayan is first class and thus costly. You might want to consider Hollywood North Perry KHWO. More GA friendly but not as fancy. I've spent years and thousands at each No fist hand experience at Sano but I hear good things. Quote
garysuperpilot Posted February 23, 2014 Author Report Posted February 23, 2014 After calling at fxe looks like I may take the least expensive route. W aviation is cheapest on fuel (1.65 less than Banyan) and only 15 per night for tiedown with two nights waived for fuel which I will surely need to get home. I will still want want to check out the pilot shop at Banyan while I'm there. Sano also sounded good but still a bit pricier than W aviation. Hey, I have to have some money to spend on the cruise.
