DonMuncy Posted December 25, 2013 Report Posted December 25, 2013 According to my imperfect memory, the three top most contentious subjects are now: 1. LOP v ROP 2. Bladders v Reseal 3. Flaps or No Flaps on take-off 1 Quote

Z W Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 Parachutes make planes safer. Composites are better than metal aircraft. Diesel engines will revolutionize GA in the next 10 years. A turbocharged plane is better than a naturally aspirated one. It's best to leave your engine heater plugged in 24/7 during the winter months. (I just realized I spent too much time online, and not enough time in the air, in 2013. I'll work on that next year). 2 Quote
Z W Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 And how could I forget... Twins are safer than singles. Angle of Attack indicators should replace Airspeed Indicators, and Stormscopes. Quote

DS1980 Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 Yes, but there's lots of good questions about some of these as well, especially about LOP. I guess I just don't see the problem with asking questions and those that offer answers. Quote
DonMuncy Posted December 26, 2013 Author Report Posted December 26, 2013 I agree that their is nothing wrong with asking questions and getting responses. One problem I see is that most of these have been beat to death so much that it is hard to find a new question or a new response. But the part that troubles me most is the too frequent attitude of "my opinion is right and anyone who disagrees is a fool (or worse)". I have strong opinions about many of these issues, but I recognize that I could be in error, and everyone has a right to a different position. 5 Quote
DS1980 Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 Agreed. I always say there's more than one way to correctly fly an airplane in all phases of flight (except taking off, which is of course with flaps-C'mon. I had to). And agree that there are many repeat questions. But I think people have general questions with specific needs. So a question about landing speeds may seem like the same question about landing speeds as asks a week prior, but turns out isn't. One example is there was a new E model owner here asking about LOP. I pointed him to a previous thread and instructed to report back with specific questions. No doubt he will have some. General topic (LOP) with specific questions. Plus it's not like we are chatting about weather behaviors of African Swallows. Airplanes are neato. Quote
DS1980 Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 Yup, neato. One step better than neat. But not nearly as good as toats mcgoats, as defined by the telephone conversations of teenage girls on the Sprint network. Quote
