  1. Bruce did my interior (an F model). Here are a few photos. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  2. Do you remember the name of the satellite? I suspect Plattsburgh is similar to Bangor. I remember landing at Bangor and taxiing a bit before getting to the taxiway. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  3. He’s alive! I thought perhaps Joe Walsh retired and the Eagles picked you up. [emoji1787] I still thinking about those “sleeping” photos we shared on our way back from Oshkosh. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  4. I know they converted Plattsburgh from a military airport to civilian use at some point. I remember flying up to an airport years ago that was in the Plattsburgh ATA, er, Class D ring. Filed in, landed and picked up my wife and sister-in-law and promptly took off VFR without talking to the tower. Got home, realized what I did and filed my first NASA form. Never heard anything about it. What was the name of that satellite airport? It looks like it is still on the sectional but Xd out. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  5. Let’s not forget the flat blade screw as well. You need 3 tool to get that puppy off. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  6. There was some sort of grommet there, at least on my 75. Mine is finally getting to the point it needs replaced. Will be exploring these options as well. The F model I fly has a recessed handle. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  7. I’m glad you used the word “need”. You’ll “need” it. Still shunned... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  8. You might be able to modify a rubber grommet that is used to run wires through car firewalls. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  9. I think there may be a market for gift type items. Maybe do a survey listing all the specific things you can make. My wife got me this for Christmas. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  10. And the day we understand this, the Earth will stop rotating. I particularly never liked how one FSDO thought something was fine and another didn’t. I know a couple years back I read that they were trying standardize this. Not sure it went anywhere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  11. LOL! We were asking about naming leaks. How about we call this one Billy? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  12. And don’t forget before you begin any brake work on a Mooney to pray to whatever ultimate being you follow. That was my failing and it probably didn’t help that I used more 4 letter words during the process than a sailor stuck on KP duty. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  13. And what name have you given to this leak? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  14. Jimmy - just want to add that I think you are doing a great service to those of us who have invested in our planes. None of us expect to get back out what we put in, but when I hear things like, “it’s an F, it is not worth more than $50k”, it makes me foam at the mouth. Is this a panel of a $50k Mooney? You can’t buy a new F and if you could, do you think you could buy it for $50k with new paint, new interior and modern avionics? And a newer Mooney doesn’t mean it should cost more. There is a 90 J that frequents my airport. The owner obviously flies it regularly. The original paint is weathered, glass is scratched and the avionics, with the exception of the GNC 430, are all 1990 original. It’s a combination of condition & equipment, not the year that should be the cornerstone of value. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  15. Jimmy - I know it’s is difficult to capture everything that can be added to a Mooney. There are several avionics that you may want to add. Like the GNC 255 and GTR 225 series of Garmin radios. A number of us have added those to replace aging standard Nav Coms. As well, I know like my plane, people have added the L-3 ESI-500 to back up Aspens and the G500s. 16. And yeah, I have experience doing this. It was part of the troubleshooting we did years ago when the breaker would pop. Bought a brand new switch and installed it. Kept the old one as a spare when the new one didn’t fix the issue. There are a ton of wires to that switch and I think it would be best not to try to disassemble it. I would get a good look at the back of your switch first to make sure your replacement matches. On my F the gear switch sits high in the panel and access to it can be from above after the glareshield is removed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  17. That’s not what he said in post 6. He was referring to photo 1, the broken one. I don’t see a cotter pin on the white wheel in photo 2. This is what I am calling the set pin. Which lines up where the other one is broken. Roughly 4 threads up from the base. I have a spare gear switch at my hangar. Will look at it tomorrow and report back. 18. Thanks John. I’ve been leaning towards the 1/4” glass and it is good to hear it is doable on an F. Do you recall the supplier of the glass? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  19. What your describing makes sense. Those inner gear doors add more drag and I believe this is the reason the J models have a different ratio on their electric gear. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  20. Anthony - that isn’t a cotter pin. It’s the remnants of the hole that a set pin was in. When the threaded part broke, it tore the shaft where the set pin resides. If you look at the second picture, you can just make out the set pin by the nut on the threaded shaft. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  21. I’ve been using the rebate site to do the ADS-B validation. What is the public report site? I’m generating rebate codes every time I test it. [emoji1787] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  22. Does anyone know if the GFC 600 is subject to the GPS restriction? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  23. Yeah, until you go to get out. [emoji1787] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  24. The roll works. I typically roll out as well as in. Nice of you to join us again. Where you been hiding? We are long over due for another Mooney Fly-in. Can we make the next one someplace warm like Aruba? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  25. It sounds like his budget will force him to refurb what he has. BTW - how are the ESI-500s working out? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
