I wonder if a low profile locking nut might work until his replacement studs show up. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/hapages/an363_1.php?clickkey=3015656 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

The sliver probably is from the oil filter. Seen this a couple of times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I’m not aware of any “learning documentation” for the F model. What are you interested in knowing about the F model? I’ve owned my F for 31 years and probably have seen and heard about everything there is on F models. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Hottest cylinder CHT at cruise

It is timed at 20° and it runs well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -
I was never happier than the day I ditched my vacuum pump. I used to do what you’re thinking of doing. I’d replace a pump after 500 hours. That changed when I had an infant mortality of a brand new pump. At one point I even considered going to a wet pump. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Exactly! In the northeast, it is not uncommon for them to give you a direct heading to a waypoint 1 or 2 waypoints ahead on the airway. It’s not too bad to manually type in BUNTS, but when you get “zoo viv”, it’s all together a different game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Hottest cylinder CHT at cruise

That’s a huge difference between 1 &3. Are the cylinders the same age? When I see the difference between them, it usually pretty close. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -
Hottest cylinder CHT at cruise
Marauder replied to Wildhorsetrail's topic in Engine Monitor Discussion
I’m not sure which IO-360 you have and which Mooney it is installed in, but I will typically see either #1 or #3 as the hottest cylinder. It seems that #1 will run hotter in cooler OATs while in warmer OATs (above 15°C), #3 runs hotter. Depending on the outside OAT, I will see temps in the low 300s up to around 340° on warmer days in cruise. I usually run ROP. On climb outs, I will adjust the climb rate to keep the cylinders below 380°. But that is rare that it will get close to 380° unless it is really hot out. I climb at Vy+10 and I have an F model with the lower cowl enclosure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -
Monday Morning Quarterback Poll
Marauder replied to 201er's topic in Mooney Safety & Accident Discussion
Everyone involved. I’m just as guilty as the next guy if I make a comment on situation where I have no direct knowledge about what really happened. Especially if the comment suggests things that just aren’t proven facts. I wasn’t in the plane, I didn’t watch it happen (and even eyewitness accounts have been shown to be inaccurate) and I certainly am not with the NTSB doing the investigation. I think it is best to let the facts be presented. Maybe the internet has made it too easy for MMQs to provide commentary. Two people lost their lives and until the investigation is complete, everything is speculation and it does no one any good because it isn’t a proven fact at this point. Monday Morning Quarterback Poll
Marauder replied to 201er's topic in Mooney Safety & Accident Discussion
I’ll give you a pass since you live in Brooklyn and having lived in Nu Hersey myself for 8 years, I know there is less sensitivity to people’s plight. It’s easy for a New Yorker to say “Can you believe he jumped off of the Tappan Zee!?” When it comes to someone’s unexpected passing, the less speculation is better for the family. They are grieving enough about the loss than reading a lot of Monday Morning Quarterback comments about the “woulda, coulda, shoulda” stuff. Some of us know what this means first hand. Monday Morning Quarterback Poll
Marauder replied to 201er's topic in Mooney Safety & Accident Discussion
I think the issue is when it turns into a judgmental point of view. Like: “Why would he/she fly on a day like this?” Or, “they would have made it if they, if they just had done X”. Can you imagine the family’s perspective if they read that stuff? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -
1977 M20J Windshield shipping cost & shops

Where are they shipping from? Maybe you have it catch a ride with a Mooney headed in your direction. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -
I like the idea of adding the intake gasket and aluminum tape to mine. The tape would have come in handy when one of the oil door latches broke. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Takair and I spoke about a Mooney that was approved to have one installed. I approached B&C about seeing if they would seek approval for the Mooney series. There was interest but not a lot of commitment. I would love to have a standby alternator on my naked vacuum pad. If perhaps there is enough requests, maybe they would pursue it. Illegally. [emoji13] My guess they got a field approval. I approached Philly FSDO about installing one in my Mooney. I would have better luck asking the guy if I could date his wife. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Fred, You need to purchase the pressure module separately. The unit is capable of one extra display output which can be used for fuel pressure or other functions like oil temp, oil pressure, etc. But to accomplish that you need to buy the extra module. BTW - I installed mine (under the watchful of an IA) 30 years ago. It just works… Connect it up to a GPS and you’ll get other outputs. https://www.iflyei.com/product/fp-5l-fuel-computer/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuLfqqvDQ-AIVDU2GCh1EZAy2EAAYASAAEgKi0fD_BwE Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro no

Kerrville crash, two lost..
Marauder replied to Eight8Victor's topic in Mooney Safety & Accident Discussion
There is an ADS-B tower southeast of Kerrvile. I’ve been at airports where I was able to get ADS-B on the ground. Maybe this is what is happening. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -
Spark plug, socket wrench, open end wrench that fits the harness nut, tire pressure gauge, wire ties, needle nose pliers, wire strippers, assorted wire connectors, multi tip screwdriver, safety wire and safety wire twister. Reasons: fouled plugs are something I experienced a few times. Also have done repairs on broken or loose wire connections. On longer trips, I carry a spare set of tubes. Considering engine monitor EI CGR-30
Marauder replied to Rusty Pilot's topic in Engine Monitor Discussion
Have you looked at the MVP-50? I have had both a JPI 830 and 900. My 900 has been back numerous times for issues. I had it back for 3 display replacements, a couple of times for firmware updates needed (like for it to work the CiES fuel senders) and a power up issue. My experience with the EI products in my plane have been great. I don’t have a full EI engine analyzer but have their RPM, tach and fuel totalizer. Rock solid (including the fuel totalizer that has been in the plane for close to 30 years). Just keep in mind that replacing individual gauges with a single primary replacement instrument means if one primary function fails, the plane is grounded. I added the EI RPM and tach just to have power gauges in case the JPI failed in flight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -

As far as I can tell, the parking brake on our Mooney’s came from an old MTD lawn tractor. [emoji6] It’s not very robust and ironically, it was stamped with “Made in China” (I kid you not). In the 31 years I have owned my Mooney, no one has gotten it to work. I often wondered if there are other valves that can be used. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
