Schering-Plough comes to mind… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I went through this with a sub panel that an avionics shop installed in my plane in New York (ran out of panel real estate). When my plane was going through another upgrade here, the FSDO was doing an inspection of the shop. They saw the sub panel and told them it had to be removed. I can see why the experimental market is so hot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Well, you got a whole motley crew of F owners who can help you with those questions. Ask away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Look, if there is that much interest in understanding how and why they developed this kit for certified aircraft, maybe a phone call to them is warranted. And if they don’t invoke their 5th amendment rights, maybe you’ll get a straight answer. [emoji6] Here is a video they posted. They clearly indicate regulations that were complied with. They even suggest your mechanic can build one with aviation grade materials to meet the regulation requirements. Did they quote those FARs as a marketing thing to sell their kit? Did they get nailed by the FAA for selling unapproved parts? BTW - the spiral thing I added because the FAA approved mechanic just ran the wire through that opening. I didn’t feel good about those wires running against the plastic trim. SO, I ran PA6 spiral wrap along the whole length. And for the record, here is a description of PA6. I had 1 dealing with aircraft insurance in my 31 years of ownership. Some idiot in the hangar behind me decided to paint his plane in his hangar. I ended up with paint residue all over my plane. Fortunately my windows were spared because I covered them with a big sheet to keep the dust off. I remember how big of a battle it was to get insurance to address the issue. Weeks of phone calls to finally have a company come out and deal with it. Insurance is your friend until you need it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

LOL! Hey, those of us who have owned airplanes for a while have seen the craziness with this stuff. My favorite was the “FAA approved” air filters used in the PC system. For years, I forked out $60 to replace those 3 filters only to see one day the “FAA APPROVED” label peeling off one and seeing a Fram fuel filter label underneath it. Checking out the prices at local Pep Boys I found they could be had for $1.97 each. Does anyone really think there was a special FAA inspection of those filters to make them “approved”? Yeah the kit is sold in pieces, but being sold that way allows you to build it to the length you need. I’m not saying that the standard adapter won’t work. But if the probable cause of my plane burnt to a crisp was due to “unauthorized” parts being used, it’s just a hassle with the insurance company I don’t want to deal with. They do. Why would the manufacturer state very clearly that it is not legal to be installed in certified aircraft? So they can sell a more expensive kit? When you see something like that in writing, it means at some point the FAA got involved. Either that or their lawyers felt there was a clear liability risk. Having used both, you can tell the components in the kit are better quality. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I think the main reason most of us went with the FAA approved kit is because the wiring adapter you are showing is not approved for installation in certified aircraft. The BatteryMinder equivalent shows in the description that the straight adapter is not approved for certified aircraft. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I’ve been sporting a couple of these. They can’t stop the heat but seem to help collect a lot of moisture. The only improvement I wish for is the on/off is truly an on/off. If it loses power, you need to hit the power button to recycle it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

alternator / electrical acting up…

I think he has it set up like David mentioned as a load meter, not as an charge/discharge ammeter. Even the JPI 900/930 can be set up this way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -

LOL. As an early adopter, it sure felt that way. But once you get the bugs worked out, the gauges are reallllllly accurate. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

If you have the ability to check the history of the voltage, I’d look for periodic drop off from the 13.8v on the last flight and a couple of the previous flights. When my voltage regulator failed, it would periodically drop low (13.1 to 13.3 range) and then pop back up to 13.8v. It may be that the regulator has been dying and you didn’t see the intermittent drop offs. I did notice mine on the flight it failed but it would pop back up to 13.8v before dropping to 12.8. Upon restart it went back up to 13.8. The 39 amp draw is unusual. It could be as PT stated that it is trying to charge a defective battery. Again, I’d look at the history of the amperage over the past few flights. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro -
You betcha. I was watching you case the joint as I was filling your oxygen up. [emoji1787] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Considering you have replaced the senders and done multiple calibrations, it really is starting to look like the Garmin. I don’t know what mode the senders are set for a Garmin installation. Can they be run in another mode (resistance versus frequency)? Hopefully one of the others with the Garmin setup can provide their thoughts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Have you redone the calibration just on odd chance it didn’t get right? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Darn! I wanted to know what happened to 69N!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro -
He must have been a Boy Scout like me. I think it was a smart move to get them on order. I have a first run cylinder from my plane that was replaced with a new Lycoming cylinder in 2019. I might have it overhauled and stored just in case. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

Holy crap man. I just saw this thread. What you are going through is my worst fear. I changed my oil this afternoon and found this on the magnet after running the magnet through every pleat in the filter. Finding anything bothered me. I don’t know if I could handle what you found! Good luck. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

I have both. I use a Verizon hotspot for a pair of the cameras that stored on the cloud and the 3 other cameras store locally but I can access them through the hotspot for live shots like the one I posted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I’m sure that scoop can be made by anyone with limited sheet metal skills. If it will help you, I can take measurements of mine if you don’t have access to one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I’ll give you a hint. There are 5 cameras. But I think the moat is going to be your real challenge. [emoji1787] I guess my hoarding has finally paid off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Mike - mine definitely has this scoop. It looks like there is just a flat piece of metal in your first picture. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

David - I’m still game for the new cowl. I know how busy you have been and appreciate your efforts. Just let me know when! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
