  1. Great idea Bob! I'll list the airport restaurants that I have flown to and would recommend. KCGE, Cambridge, MD - Kay's at the Airport (wife highly recommends the crab cakes) KGED, Georgetown, DE - Arena's (good fuel prices and easy approaches) KLNS, Lancaster, PA - Fiorentino's (Class D) KRDG, Reading, PA - Klingeras at the Airport (Class D) KWWD, Cape May, NJ - Flight Deck Diner 26N, Ocean City, NJ - Airport Diner (walking distance to the shore -- New Jerseyians called it the "shore" and us Delawareans called it the "beach", probably because people in NJ think they are saying b$tch instead of beach ) N57, Toughkenamon, PA - Marauder's Cookout (barbecues a number of weekends during the summer, no reservation required) Unfortunately Cloud 9 at Williamsport closed at the end of October.
  2. Sure would like to see the mock up. Will the folks at AGL be on your installer list? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  3. Can you explain how this data was taken? Where was the humidity for the engine monitored? If inside the engine, where? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  4. If you fly regularly, I agree that keeping the oil flowing will do more to protect the engine during short periods of non use. The question is if you heat up the engine in the winter to 60 to 80 degrees are you introducing moisture in the engine and then not flying enough or at all. Since I know of no real data showing what is really going on inside of an engine managed this way, who knows what we are doing to our engines. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  5. You should spend some time with Jerry. He is being very kind when he said was in the field. So when we opening up the shop Jerry? Between your brains and my brawn, not only will they be installed correctly, we’ll get paid.
  6. I wonder how many of those are in the experimental category. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  7. Time to set up that “ADS-B R US” shop Jerry. We could make a killing and I could retire early. [emoji12] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  8. I do and that is why I fly frequently. The difference is that we are talking about planes most likely sitting like this during the winter for extended periods of time and not flying as much. As a side note, as a scientist by training, all of these topics are speculation. Until someone produces a controlled study showing scientific evidence to this, it is all guess work. This goes for the LOP/ROP, Camguard, José’s Pee Venturi, etc. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

  10. If you do begin foaming at the mouth, please take a photo and post it here. I want to see a picture of Mike “Mad Dog” Elliott.
  11. I suspect a number don’t know what a PPI is. Classic horror story was a buyer of a C model on my field. I told him to take the plane to Weber’s or Air Mods for the PPI. He elected to use a local mechanic. The mechanic found a fuel leak and nothing else. The guy went ahead with the purchase after the seller agreed to funding bladders. Literally, 2 months later the plane is in the same shop for the annual. Now doing a full annual, they found the prop was incorrect (supposedly), the muffler had a crack and a laundry list of other items totally $10k. The owner cried “uncle” and sold the plane to Wentworth. I heard later the plane was put back into flying condition. When asked about the items not being found during the PPI, the mechanic said, “it was a pre-buy, not an annual”. As a side note, the owner had paid a DER during the annual to get the “unapproved” prop “approved”. When he got the plane back and went through the logs with Wentworth, they found that a DER report from 1980 showing that the prop was already approved. Caveat emptor... 12. I follow the 1 hour rule. Nothing to drink 1 hour before the flight and only drink something 1 hour before landing. Of course, this timeline is dependent on the condition of your prostrate and whether or not you are a subscriber to the technologies of Depends, Travel Johns or the infamous “Piloto Pee Venturi”. 13. The STC process aside, I’m sure those market development people at Garmin are looking at the installed based numbers and the retrofit data to see where the sweet spot is. I wonder how many Js are still flying with their factory equipped King or Century autopilots. And I suspect many of the pre-J models have already been upgraded to some retrofit. 14. My concern would be that keeping it warm all the time without finding a way to dispose of the moisture would lead to a green house effect. Just opening the oil dip tube and hoping the engine vent would be enough to allow moisture out is wishful thinking. If they said, “used with a desiccant flow system”, I’d be more prone to think that will be a good approach. And keeping the engine warm all the time and not flying it still leaves the concern of oil migrating off of the cam and other parts. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
  15. Oh no! You sold my coffee cup on eBay! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  16. Don’t worry Brian. I’ll find a way to get my coffee cup back from you somehow! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  17. A few of us got together at KCGE for lunch. Never been to the airport but I know Hunter Fooks recommended the restaurant. We had people come in from as far as Linden (but not the guy from Linden we all know and love). My wife is a tough critic of crab cakes and I am pleased to report she uttered “these are the best crap cakes I have ever eaten”. And this comes from a lady who always orders crab cakes when we fly to an airport in the Chesapeake area. Thank you Hunter for the recommendation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  18. Sorry couldn’t help you out Fred. The later model F senders are a lot of different than your C model. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  19. All in due time, all in due time. These out of the window shots are new to me. My videos are usually showing my panel. Any recommendations to fit a GoPro 2? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  20. Fred - show me a picture of that sender. I still have my original senders that I pulled for the CiES. If it works, you can have it for shipping cost.
  21. I have been flying with a full ADS-B solution for a year and I absolutely agree with you. The see and avoid works mainly because of luck. I had 2 near misses in 30 years of flying, both within 100 feet of contact. I also had an encounter that sold my wife on ADS-B. Leaving Ocean City Maryland I was climbing with my wife and son on board. My wife was in the back set and asked if I was aware of a plane above me. I lifted the wing and sure enough, I was climbing up in a plane. Of course when my wife asked "isn't there something you could put in the plane to see other planes?", I was officially given the green light to move ahead. This video was taken last Sunday. A transponder equipped glider was flying over the approach end of our runway. I did not hear him on the radio and picked him up initially with TAS and the TIS-B. When I first saw him, he was headed north bound and was a 1000' feet above me. I didn't know he was a glider initially but when I did get a visual on him it was solely because ADS-B showed where he was. The risk came in when he literally did a 360 and started descending. That's when the Lynx ADS-B called out the conflict. It was the ADS-B that got me looking. I doubt I would have seen him first without ADS-B.
  22. Bob - I thought you dialed in the TAS difference before painting? I often wonder how much weight gain a plane sees with a new paint job, especially if they add a lot of Bondo to fix cosmetic issues. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  23. Thanks. I sent them an email asking if it would support stereo from an audio panel. I did see the Costco deal and that is where I got the 5 from. Does your battery drain quickly when you are not using it? Mine sure does. Never had that issue with the GoPro 2. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  25. I have seen several of the RTV sealants used. I prefer to use RTV-167 but have seen people use RTV-108 without any issues with the aluminum surfaces. https://www.mgchemicals.com/products/rtv-silicones/adhesives-/-sealants/
