  1. It will be interesting to learn of the details when you get this figured out. If I am reading things correctly, there is a speculation that during the flight you pulled the parking brake inadvertently and when you landed used the brakes which would now lock and cause the skidding. Is that the current theory? I know piecing things together can be challenging. Not as obvious as this Corsair owner at our 2013 airshow. He landed with his feet on the brakes and put the plane on the nose. Heck of a lot more expensive learning for him.
  2. And the color of the Bravo too?
  3. Gary is a pretty detailed and safety oriented pilot who had a fair amount of time in his Sierra. I think something catastrophic happened to that plane. The only thing I think he could have done differently and may have changed the outcome was to put the wheels down.
  4. And some of you guys were commenting about Bryan and I pimping it with our sheepskin covers. That is some red there...
  5. Very sobering. His comment about it being noisy in the plane makes me wonder if he was flying without a headset.
  6. You talking about Gary? If so, there were no fatalities but it sure messed him up.
  7. You will need to either use the bypass switch or disable it. Your F may not have this bypass switch installed. I had mine installed. It's the red button next to the gear switch. Post us a picture of your panel.
  8. Yes, you can make a replacement window for the floor actuator. I made one earlier this year. Once removed, I took it to Lowe’s and had them match it up with a piece of acrylic for thickness. They cut it to size for me and I used the original to match the holes in it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  9. They were switching between the two switches and I think others with pre-70 may have airspeed switches. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  10. Here is what a squat switch looks like just in case (left wheel). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  11. You sure you have an airspeed switch? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  12. Used mine last night to get the stupid label read on my master cylinder. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  13. Thanks. The bypass switch will allow you to retract the gear if the squat or airspeed switch failed to activate. If they fail, you won't be able to get the gear up manually. It is not a common failure although people like me who have a squat switch found it handy in really cold environments to get the gear up when the donuts don't expand enough to activate the switch. I had it installed in my 75 F. Not sure when it became standard on the fleet.
  14. Any updates on the lawsuit with Garmin?
  15. It's impressive. And very happy to see the fleet is being maintained. They just aren't making these planes any more and it is up to us to keep them flying for the next generation. Hopefully, there will be a next generation.
  16. Bruce used tie wraps to make sure those DualLock pieces stayed snug to the frame. The one area I did not like of his approach was the window and overhead piece treatment. This stuff is old and despite spending a lot of time repairing the pieces, the cracks are still coming. I would like to wrap the plastics just to cover them up. Good to know Airtex has an option.
  17. Wow! That is quite a transformation!
  18. Yeah, something was funky with the registration history of this plane. I found the 2010 helicopter accident. https://app.ntsb.gov/pdfgenerator/ReportGeneratorFile.ashx?EventID=20100513X55340&AKey=1&RType=Final&IType=CA and tracked down the details. It looks like the helicopter accident actually involved T133TA and the report was in error. The serial numbers match from the FAA database. From the registration history, it looks like Skyrod Aviation Services Inc. did not renew after the 3 year renewal done in 2004. Someone by the name of Sidney E. Mack was listed as the registered owner from 2008 until 2015 when the FAA set it for cancellation. Then the new registration showed up in November.
  19. Being an old steam gauge guy, I never really appreciated the Victor airway capabilities of the newer boxes until I started flying safety pilot with the GNS owners. Too much data entry!
  20. Good to see you back on the grid. Staying away from deer I hope!
  21. Here is a picture of mine in the open state. I agree, the valve appears to be closed.
  22. A few questions. I like your color selection of the seats. [emoji4] I'm partial to tan since it hides dirt well. The questions. What material do you have on the top panel? It looks like the leather used on the seats is on the top rear and either a textured paint or a cloth material on the front. Is that what is going on there? What are all the buttons on the right side of the yoke responsible for? I didn't see a gear bypass switch on your 77 J. I thought all of them had it installed.
  23. Now that you showed your panel, I will change my comment. The Lynx the last time I checked will show traffic on the GTN but weather products are not available. I would go with the Avidyne exchange for the 530 now (there still is a good resale market for them now) and find a way to fund an Aspen. Everything will be integrated and you will be able to get GPSS and autopilot control. Sorry I am spending your money.
  24. Another question. It looks like you have Bruce's Spatial Designs interior (or portions of it, i.e. pockets) but I am seeing screws in the side panel. Is this Bruce's stuff? And if so, what did you do for the window treatments?
