  1. Here is a news link for this. Prayers to families... http://www.durangoherald.com/article/20140704/NEWS01/140709810/0/FRONTPAGE/2-killed-in-plane-crash-at-Durango-airport Yves
  2. Do you guy recall the reason why the 6 hours was dropped in USA, and when? (I am looking for arguments here) Yves
  3. Up here we have the six hours requirement which is a pain in the butt specially since we cannot fly in clouds 6 months per year. My Transport Canada delegated examiner tells me that all hours under IFR flight plan counts towards the 6 even if the regulations are not that clear and opinions I find around vary...I wish the regulations we have here would be aligned with you guys...if COPA could get off their duff and do something about this! Yves
  4. I don't see that one on Foreflight. Anyone else having this issue too? Yves
  5. Please let me know about this: In USA, the currency requirement is that you need to have done 6 approaches in the last 6 months right?I do not believe that you have the requirement to have done 6 hours of instrument time (actual or simulated) in the last 6 months right? Yves
  6. Very informative Mike. Thanks. You might want to do something to help with the audio. Looks like you have an impedance / level mismatch between the intercom output and the recording device. Regards, Yves
  7. Many pilots in Canada log any flight under an IFR flight plan as actual... we have an additional requirement to have 6 hours of IFR time in the last 6 months to remain current. I wish they would allign with USA rules. This would actually resolve that debate. If they would enforce (this is also a debate here) this by checking logbooks and giving fines etc. to culprits, there would not be much IFR GA flights in Canada. How can private pilot flying an average of 50 hours a year fly 6 hours actual in clouds whenfor about 6 months in a year you cannot fly in clouds due to icing? (From October to March, the temperature here is too cold to fly in clouds without FIKI) Yves
  8. Just re-phrasing by post above: Should have been a question more like: If both are grounded, how would it sustain firing? Yves
  9. I am no expert but if both mags are grounded when you crank it will never fire. Yves
  10. Jolie, perhaps you missed this one: http://mooneyspace.com/topic/12367-mooneys-in-oshkoshwhats-happening/ Several MooneySpace pilots wish to have a MooneySpace get together in Oshkosh. I am arranging one that will happen on the Monday at 6 PM, in the Mooney Caravan tent. Yves
  11. Oh, I forgot: Monday at 6 PM in the Mooney caravan tent Yves
  12. It seems like we have several MooneySpace forum pilots who want to meet on Monday PM in Oshkosh. The Mooney Caravan tent will be open for us. I will get in touch with Dave who mentionned above that beverages can be arranged.... we'll see about this. I will post later directions how to get to the tent. Yves
  13. The Mooney Caravan tent use was granted for a Mooneyspace posters get together. The tent is busy for different events (see Dave M post above for details and note that all are invited) so there are a few options: - Have it scheduled on Monday (6 PM)? - Could be before the Wednesday seminar ( from 2-4 PM, tent need to be free by 4 PM) but this is during the day airshow. - One could be arranged for Thursday or Friday but I might be gone by then. Please provide some feedback... but keep in mind that it is hard to make everyone happy :-) Yves
  14. And I forgot to mention: I use a wood paint stick that was marked with litres. I always believed that my original gages were erratic, not showing the right remaining amounts but on my last winter trip accross the continent, I checked and was surprised that they were pretty close to reality. Yves
  15. I never know how heavy, how many passengers, luggage I will take on the next flight. Because of this I never refuel after a flight. I don't care about condensation since I always sump the tanks before each flight. I do not recall any time when I had to either drain any fuel or refuse someone or carry-ons in order to have a compliant W & B. Yves
  16. The Mooney is there to get away from all the kids I have said it before... and it moves fast! Yves
  17. Aaron, was your aircraft parked outside or inside during the winter? The climate you have is similar to here I presume. I am wondering if your winter startup procedure might have anything to do with this? Yves
  18. Just curious... I do not really want to do it for a Mooney but if there would be a way this could be beneficial for smaller engines that could have the prop swing after a dead battery. I think it would be almost impossible to swing one that is engaged. Yves
  19. I think there is a way to manually retract the cog gear (using a screw driver maybe?). Would anyone know how could this be done? Yves
  20. Nice landing Bob!
  21. It would be nice if we could arrange a Mooneyspace get together in Oshkosh. There are many posters I would like to meet in person and believe this is also the case for many others. Would any others wish to do this? If there is interest for this, I will check with Larry and Chris to get permission to use the Mooney Caravan tent for an hour or two for this when it is not used. I will check with them and post something a few weeks before the event. From last year experience, after the Caravan BBQ (which happens on a Tuesday I think) the tent was pretty well free after that. Wednesday between the day airshow and night airshow is probably a good time to do this. Yves
  22. I'll try to attend... but don't forget I need to negotiate with a Venusian who happens to be my co-pilot. I knew about your work and also the meaning of your first name... Cannot wait to hug you in Oshkosh lolll Yves
  23. Thanks Dave. Just to make things clear, I am the original poster but just a friend of the poor fellow who had the gear-up ordeal in Gatineau on Monday. It went pretty close that I would be partner with him on a Mooney at some point but it did not happen. It could have been this same aircraft. I will contact him and let him take a look at this thread. All this information can surely help his mechanic. Thanks to all for your help. After looking at all this, the wife is really happy our bird has the Johnson bar. Yves
  24. Jolie, did you read the book "Man are from Mars, Women are from Venus" by any chance? I did and this explains a lot of things. Yves
  25. Are you sure it is SB20-282? There is a SB20-282a about avionics on the mooney site... Yves
