  1. I used to work in tanneries and buy cattle hides, when this country had tanneries. In spite of that experience () I love leather and upgraded to leather when I redid the interior of my old E model.
  2. Some of us will be in Kerrville that day...
  3. Hum, my Aspen has its own OAT, IAS, heading, and track which it uses with the ground speed info from the GTN 750 to continuously display TAS as well as wind direction and strength. (But I have 2 or 3 E6-Bs somewhere in my desk.)
  4. I don't think the type filter would explain that much difference, check condition of the foam filter - it might need replacing, pretty cheap, under $20 for the BA 6305 that should fit your F.
  5. I think I'd have to inspect your air filter if it is costing 2" MAP. The most I ever see is 1.1". I have a Challenger Air filter KH p/n # CP1176, STC SA01669CHRD.
  6. New Plane Covers are not that expensive ($365) and will have properly positioned holes and pockets for your antennae, OATs etc. and include your tail number. Jim Cancil is great to work with. He will make custom cowl opening plugs to match. http://www.planecover.com/Mooney.htm
  7. John, you should be able to delete your own posts...
  8. Welcome S...20! If it is usually you alone or you and the Boss, and you're staying mostly east of the Rockies you should find the most bang for the buck with the M20C, M20E, and the M20F. @ 50k you should be able to get a decent airframe with either a modern panel (i.e. with autopilot, ADS-B, moving map GPS, engine analyser) , or a less than mid time engine. The 180 hp carbureted C is a little cheaper, everything else being equal, than the 200 hp injected E which is in turn a little cheaper that the longer, heavier F. But these planes are ~ 50 years old and no 2 are alike anymore so you'll probably want to have an open mind re model. There are lots of mods and upgrades and you'll want to make lists of what is essential vs. nice. Have fun and keep us posted.
  9. Bill, hope the plane sells quickly for you, someone is going to get a nice Super 21. I don't need a hangar but if you wind up selling the golf cart or your O2 setup or other hangar contents let us know.
  10. Thanks, that seems weird. I'll remove the access panel and check it out. So the jack point is not directly under the spar?
  11. Byron, I suppose that the NACA scoop has less drag than the roof scoop when the latter is open but how would they compare when the movable scoop is closed?
  12. For under $500 you can give your E a new door window with a pre-assembled vent. http://www.glapinc.com/cart/product_info.php?cPath=639_144_443_146&products_id=1270
  13. As with the low pressure problem, I'd be suspicious of the gauge and check it first. Does fuel flow, if you have it, confirm the high pressure? FF @ takeoff should be 18 gph +/-. Done engine run normal @ slow idle?
  14. I believe you need to be a member of MAPA to take the PPP. MAPA membership gets you the MAPALog which promotes the clinics around the country as well as other activities like the annual convention in Kerrville in October. (I'll be @ Manchester in a couple of weeks also! also Kerrville 10/19-23, also Mooney Summit @ KECP 9/29-10/2, D.V. It's really smart to spend $1000 on training and continuing ed to save $100 on insurance.)
  15. See pic above. I'd reach out the vent window and open the door. <chuckle>
  16. No, I have only one antenna - on the belly.
  17. Okay. Have any idea why ALT (or delta ALT) was delayed, perhaps by only 30 seconds?
  18. We need to come on down there. I'll talk to my social secretary.
  19. As you know, I have a GDX 88. ADS-B traffic is displayed on an GTN 750. No Active Traffic equipment. Yesterday I did a couple of high speed taxi runs on the runway to break in new brake linings. I exited the runway as a Citation moved into position and took off. I was a little surprised to see him on the 750 as traffic throughout his take off roll and climb. The relative altitude tag seemed to have a lag - it remained at 0 until he was at least 500 AGL then increased at what I'd judge was much less than his climb rate. I don't know where ADS-B antennae are but KMRN is out in the country and ATS radar typically does not see us until we're at least 1000' AGL. I was impressed.
  20. I would just open the vent window and unlock it.
  21. Inspired by this thread, I made a trip out to the airport today to put a Allen (hex) wrench on mine, which look like Marauder's, to snug them up. I was puzzled that a 3/8" SAE wrench did not quite fit and 5/16" was too small. I discovered there in no 11/64" Allen. I went home for a set of metrics and found that 4.5 mm would work and I snugged up the screw but Allen wrenches fit snug and this one had a little slack - I don't believe it is really metric. (There are very few metric sized anything on vintage Mooneys and I doubt LASAR spec'd a metric screw.) Anyone know what's right? Chris, Lee do you remember what wrench you used? A further puzzle, I backed a screw out about 3/8" - I was going to remove it and inspect it to see if the hex hole was damaged, and I discovered to my surprise that the screw could be pushed back up flush to the wing. I thought the screw was going into the spar since it is a solid jack point and I cannot visualize what the "nut/tapped hole" behind the sheet metal is like. A study of both the parts and maintenance manuals was no help. There's always something to learn!
  22. Did you get your plane back? Did you tell us who did the 10 gallon add on?
  23. 2016 Acclaim Ultra?
  24. Thanks. Since I have a GTN750 and will also have info on Android tablet as soon as FS 510 is installed I doubt I'd spring for Aspen display.
  25. Really? Does it need an unlock? But the lower half of the PFD is so small I am still skeptical it would be useful.
