Thanks, I had not seen the message. One thing I was very surprised was the lack of documentation of the 210. I was expecting at least a manual... but nothing... I wonder if I could use my jeppview subscription for the GP...

I had mine installed two weeks ago and just flew three hours since then (Today I am in a cold Washington DC...). I am using Garmin Pilot on my Mini Ipad, a GDL 88, GTN 750, 430 and 795. No problem in transferring flight plans between the GTN and the ipad. Really nice function. Otherwise the units work independently from each other. You can use them for different functions (displaying traffic, weather, etc.), giving you tons of options to have everything integrated. One issue that i miss on Garmin Pilot are the Jepp approach charts. As far as I know Garmin Pilot does not have them. So I have to switch between Jeppview and Garmin Pilot... Not terrible but I would have thought that having the chart option on the GTN that you would also have that option on the Garmin Pilot. Overall, I like the system.

I started the process of upgrading my panel three years ago. I first installed an Aspen, then I went for a GTN 750, with integrated transponder and audiopanel. i added later a new AP STEC 55x and now I finalized the process with a Flightstream 210 and a GDL 88. Costs, I don't know... and I better don't know... but I should be now ok to fly until my sons get the plane in about 10 years.

I agree. I think he really does not want to sell... I would not want to sell mine and most likely if I had to, I would find excuses to hold on to my bird one more day...

A while ago somebody created a post called "my last flight" I thought it was a good idea and would give a space to share our flights... pics, movies, stories... May be we could consider adding/changing the section on Vacations to my last flight... I have not seen many posting in the Vacation section...

Temperatures may be nice here... but winds have been gusting during the week up to 30kts, which with the mountains around the area creates conditions favorable for extreme turbulence and makes flying not recommended. So hoping for winds at least in the high teens for the weekend...

Second part flying back to MGGT. My landing was really bad. Mainly because I had lost the night vision due to all the displays in the cockpit. Lesson learned use the night mode...

I have been learning how to use my STEC 55 X autopilot with the GTN and ASPEN. Not easy if you have only 2 airports in the country with authorized IFR approaches. However, there are some "informal approaches" (ie procedures that have been worked out and designed by the air force, but have never been approved by the equivalent of the FAA). One of them is the VOR approach into MGSJ. So this video shows how I was trying to fly the approach with an instructor. Unfortunately it became dark and the airport has no runway lights and I had to go missed... Hope you enjoy. Oscar

Great idea!!!! May be we should even rename the vacation section into my last flight! Well today is a WONDERFUL day for flying (although windy as usual 16kts to 20 kts). So I am going to the beach.
