  1. The MAPA PPP manual doesn't have the B model broken out so you'll likely have to use some of the ballpark numbers for the C model and adjust for his aircraft. Keep in mind that it has a manual gear, miss approaches are pretty challenging because anything over 90 MPH you have to be superman to raise that gear. Use the search feature on the site as this topic's been discussed many times.
  2. Last time I had mine done, the Avionics shop only had one question. Does it have the 201 windshield? $250 no, $500 yes. All about access.
  3. If I had the time, I'd buy it for parts. It would be a great part-out plane.
  4. The Dallas ISD is doing something similar through the Blue Sky Foundation... Pretty cool. http://education.kera.org/npr_pull_post_type/reaching-new-heights-aviation-classes-taking-off-for-dallas-isd-elementary-kids/
  5. Don - Fly um over to DTO and we can show him several models. Have a 201 next door to my hangar.
  6. Me too... I love my access panels! Just like anything else, if you perform the maintenance correctly and seal them right, all is good.
  7. You might want to make sure that your plane is wired to support the KX155a (w/GS). Since your 155 didn't have the GS option, there's a chance that you're not cabled for it.
  8. Yes... I have a calibrated fuel stick that I use to validate fuel levels. I never trust my fuel gauges.
  9. The KX155a is a absolute workhorse and one of the most trusted Nav/Coms out there. Unless you have unlimited funds, getting the 155 operational is step one.
  10. I had an issue with my lien dated back in the 70's. The title company side that the prior owners were likely deceased, it would be very difficult to clear up. So they recommended purchasing lien insurance and not worry about it.
  11. To bring this plane up to today's standards, your looking at a new engine, complete new set of avionics, tank reseal/bladders, shock disks, paint and interior at a minimum. When all said and done you will likely be looking at sinking $75-$80K into this plane not counting the purchase price. When you attempt to sell it down the road, you'll take a bath on it. If this was a 201 that has a higher ceiling value, it might be worth it but not for a C model. So as much as it pains me to say it, this plane really needs to be parted out. If you do decide to purchase it to be parted out, I'll take the elevators and flaps.
  12. Love that picture... Brings back good memories of seeing the Red Devils/Eagles Aerobatic Team. RIP Charlie.
  13. Yep, it's very common in the experimental circles that you obtain a Repairman's certificate so you can do your own Condition Inspections on your plane you built.
  14. Yep, you are correct. Any A&P can perform the condition inspection.
  15. Actually, they do require an annual inspection. It's called an "condition inspection." If you built the plane, you can apply for a "repairman" license which allows you to do your own annual condition inspections. If you purchased the homebuilt, you'll have to have an IA do the inspection.
  16. You could always change your oil prior to taking it in for its annual.
  17. I too have a friend that had a similar experience... He explained it as feeling like when landing you just touched down on railroad tracks. His first thought was that he carried a little too much speed and/or might of not been on his toes and had some breaks applied. He only experienced this once.
  18. That's a really low TTAF for a 47 year old plane! Did the plane set for a period of time?
  19. No MSC close. Might want to give Cole Aviation in Rome,GA a call. They are a MSC and might know someone in the area they can recommend. 706-295-4353.
  20. Garmin Pilot Hands down. Garmin Pilot hands down.
  21. Here ya go... http://www.coloresdelpueblo.org/Fabric.htm
  22. It all depends on your baseline... One thing I do love about Mooneys is that you can put them into a turn and they stay there. It's like they're flying on rails. You'll not get that with brand C and P trainers. This one characteristic I really love when hand flying our machines. But yes, the controls are heavy.
  23. Not to stray too far from this thread but I'd love to move out to this airport condo but having "issues" convincing the wife this will save us money in hangar rental. http://www.aerocountryeast.com/townhomes.php Anyone move to something like this that could offer up ideas on how to sell this to the boss?
  24. You can purchase them online from Harman Professional for $1099.00 Here's the URL: http://www.harmanpro.com/estore/pro/us/products/AV100/AV100_PRO_US?skuId=3396Z00010_PRO_US&searchMode=regularProductOnly
  25. The real question is why's he running at 13.0 GPH!
