  1. Just saw this nice looking 1987 J model for $70K. On first pass this looks like a great price. If I was in the market for a 201, this one might be on my list to look at. http://www.barnstormers.com/ad_detail.php?ID=892467
  2. Not to dog pile (in a good way) on Aaron... My right mag was butchered up pretty good by an A&P getting in off and on (another story, another thread). When I sent it to Aaron to have it repaired, he suggested that I replace the back cover from a long to a short allowing more space to get the mag off and on. So he dug around in has back room and found an old mag with the short case on it and swapped mine out. When I got the bill for the IRAN, there wasn't any mention of the cover being replaced... Did me a solid. Customer for life. His website: http://www.selectaircraft.com/
  3. Same here... I just reinstalled it and download a bunch of charts on my N7 running 4.4.2 and installed and downloaded fine. Maybe you have a configuration or network issue?
  4. not yet... After my avionics guy talks with PS Engineering today, I'm sure they'll have a laundry list of things to try. We'll add those to the list. I have a separate alternator switch, I might flip that off to see if that makes a difference.
  5. GIve Hector Fernandez at Aero Comfort a call (210-340-0177). He has whole pile of them from all the planes he's pulled out when redoing their interiors. I'm sure he'll give you a deal on a couple of dozen of them.
  6. I've used Aaron from Select a couple of times and he's done A+ work and he's a super nice guy. Can't say enough nice thing about is work.
  7. All jacks are new and the clicking is coming from either the pilot to copilot jack depending on which mic is plugged in. We used multiple headset combinations from Light Speed to Halo and all are doing it. My avionics guy is talking to PS Engineering. Hopefully they can figure it out.
  8. CAF is moving from Midland to Dallas Executive so there should be tons of hangar space opening up in the near future.
  9. Don Maxwell and Mike Busch both send their mags out to folks that specialize in rebuilding mags. If they send their mags out, I'm doing the same.
  10. You could always go the IRAN approach. Have one of the 2-3 top Mag shops open them up and have a look see.
  11. Reporting back... Purchased the mic muffs and now I'm getting a clicking sound that gets worse as the RPM's increase. The clicking stops when the mic's are unplugged. My avionics guy initially thought it might be a wiring issue until he hear it first hand. He's not thinking that the sound levels are too high and is causing the squelch issue. He's contacting PS Engineering to see if there's any adjustments that can be made to the unit. Any additional thoughts, please send them my way.
  12. This is unbelievable. You have an inflight engine failure and declare an emergency. You land safely and the FSDO wants to know if this was pilot error? Really? What kind of questions will the FSDO ask the A&P? Did Don run his engine too long in that dreaded Red Box? Did he forget to add Camguard? There is nothing that the A&P can tell the FSDO that would be considered pilot error and warrant a check ride.
  13. Just noticed that Northwest Flyers at 06C is a Mooney Service Center... How can I turn that FBO down?
  14. Right now I'm leaning toward Chicago Executive but also considering DuPage or Aurora as well.
  15. Reviving an old thread... I'm planning a trip to Chicago on the way home from Oshkosh this year. A couple of airports were mentioned but I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on the best GA friendly airport in Chicagoland?
  16. If it's in the 15-20% range I'm in.
  17. RockyDoc - If you don't want to go down the legal path, at least report it to AOPA so they can run with it. It will provide additional ammo for AOPA to stand up for our rights. Here's a link to an AOPA questionnaire that makes it easy to report the incident. http://www.aopa.org/Advocacy/Security-and-Borders.aspx
  18. Just curious... Does the condition of the AWC actually matter? Last time I check, mine after 50 years isn't in the best shape either.
  19. I'd contact AOPA and share this story. Clearly this is unacceptable and can not continue.
  20. Looks like you're tooling up to start cranking out those Rocket kits!
  21. Yep... I had the same experience. My engine has never run better. One of my smarter investments.
  22. Actually no... But that's a good idea. I'll give that a try.
  23. Next year it would be nice if MAPA would allow vendors to set up booths. I talked to Hector from Aero Comfort to see if he was going to be there and he said probably not since he couldn't set up a display. I think MAPA is missing out on a real opportunity to sale booth spots to vendors during this conference. I bet most of the regular advertisers in MAPA Log would love an opportunity to display at the conference.
