  1. +1 Remember the President has the choice of where to cut. Will he execute all the cuts he is scaring everyone with or cut the programs that are truly a waste? Guess we will see next week.
  2. I recently got one for two reasons. 1) comm backup in case of power failure 2) most my flying is over the desert where there is limited or no cell service and I wanted comm in case of an off field landing.
  3. Apple valley, ca has a M20e for rent and there is a m20k for sale there that looks good. I have no specifics just saw it them other day I flew in there. If you are interested I can get the number off it the next time I fly in there. It doesn't appear to be posted for sale on any website.
  4. Great panel! I love how you arranged the panel. You gave me more ideas for my panel upgrade.any chance you have the old panel covers still? I may be interested in taking them off your hands.
  5. Those look pretty cool, but i think it would be hard to see the screen.
  6. I would love to hear a pirep on the G1. I'm debating between the G1 or G2 and would like to hear your thoughts on the G1.
  7. It was a great day to fly into Big Bear. I really enjoyed meeting everyone that attended. Thank you Dave for putting this together. Hope I can make the next one as well.
  8. Congrats on your new to you Mooney and welcome aboard!
  9. Congrats! That's a great accomplishment. Fly safe.
  10. I've never flown my plane (or any plane) that long yet. I would love to hear about your experiences, but can understand that you want to keep them private.
  11. Same as N601RX. I put the inertia belts in just over a year ago. I feel much better with them then just the old lap belt. Since each Mooney is handbuilt installing the shoulder belts can be a pain in the butt. We had to take out the windows on the pilot side the passenger side was easier. It is all a matter of having enough space to get around the cage. Good luck.
  12. I trained in cessna's, but liked low wing. I flew a piper cherokee and was shopping for a piper 180 or a grumman tiger. Had a chance to get my complex with a Marine Officer my wife worked with. I got my complex in his 81 M20J. After flying her I was determined to get a mooney. I would not pass the oppurtunity to fly other planes but I am quite happy with my mooney at this time.
  13. My two mains are inflated to 30 psi and the nose wheel is 49 psi. I never really noticed the clearance.
  14. Like harmonics? I've heard people say that there can be a harmonics issue with a three blade prop on the M20F's. All except the MT props.
  15. Sound like a broken record, but I also have the Halo and haven't thought of any other headset as I love it. I had a priblem with feedback a few months ago, called Phil who told me to send them in. Got them back quickly with a hand written note letting me know what he did. Haven't had a problem since. Great product all around.
  16. Happy holidays, everyone! Fly safe everyone and may the wind be at your tail.
  17. What Mooney are you shopping for?
  18. I think of a pre-buy like a home inspection. It's all dependant on the inspector. The mech I had do a couple pre-buys started off his post brief's to me with "no plane is perfect". The plans I was looking at were 40+ years old. Try to find something not wrong with a 40 year old plane, car, or house. Just look at all the posts, something is always acting quirky or needs repair. This sounds negative and I do not mean it that way. Owning a plane is awesome, but you have to be prepared for the repairs because they will be needed. Good luck.
  19. He even changed out the front cowling.

  21. +1 all the pelican perch articles are full of educational material. A must read.
  22. I was looking at iInsight's website, specifically the G1 and it had this: Warning – If you have a injected fuel system and planning or running lean of peak the G3 is a better choice because you get: First To Last Color Lean boxes - White LOP, Cyan ROP By How Many Degrees - Number in box What Fuel Flow Was At Peak On Every Cylinder - On every EGT bar EGT Variation Spectrum - In-flight exhaust valve analysis Advanced Data Logging - Every second of every function on SD Card -- Have you had any issues leaning? Do you run LOP? Just curious as I really want the G3 but can get by with the G1. There is a $2K price difference. Insight fits best in my panel without redoing the entire panel and it looks a lot better than the EDI 700.
