  1. I have heard the same thing from other sources - these things should be costing $60....
  2. Thread drift - sorry - how do I get a ski tube?
  3. Nice - looks a lot like the inside of my airplane! Only I don't have an aspen. Love the pockets too eh - its a very very clean and more room look.
  4. ...a project for Mooney’s? Or for gulf streams?
  5. 3 or 4 years ago I would have purchased one without a hestitation if it had been available - now it is most likely I will be installing a gfc500 when available.
  6. I wish.... someday the IDEAL redundant backup would include a hybrid electric power system, an engine with electric drive where the electric can power the shaft-prop if the engine dies and vice versa.
  7. for safer and faster.... I figure a parachute and a (very small) turbine engine (for reliability) and of course an autopilot with full envelope protection (ESP).
  8. True enough - what did you say you are flying behind? Did you say just one nav com and an aera 660 as backup? I am misunderstanding one of the two statements I have read here. Please correct me.
  9. 4 engines? Can you afford to operate that thing? Are you certified multi?
  10. Seems like they quit on Mooney.
  11. I'm tall and I have Bruce's interior system - I can't quantify it but I can say it is definitely noticeable and nice.
  12. My tsio520 runs ok lop....at low percent power it’s fine but I hate running at high tit which I would need to do lop at higher power settings so I don’t. I only lop if I am sufficiently happy in no hurry to go low power - which is often enough since its pretty fast anyway. maybe besides your good operation the rocket is down rated power and very well cooled as compared to the same engine in the c340/414 applications. 305 hp vs 325/335 hp.
  13. She looks nice - congratulations! I think your rocket was even slower than ten slower than book? Anyway slower than mine and I have tks and vg s. And 15gph is 55% power rop - and I can burn it even lower lop at 55.
  14. I am holding and not making any changes for the moment.... Does anyone have any intel regarding when the GFC500 will be available?
  15. Im glad for you. Can you call out some numbers? Is that relative to your rocket - You mentioned your rocket was roughly 10kts slower than book? Mine is too - I was blaming tks and vg's. How do your SR22TN and former rocket compare at say 75%? Etc.
  16. Hows your new SR22? Hows the speed? vs your former Rocket? ...you on COPA now? Well you are welcome to stick around here to of course!
  17. I hear the Brooklyn Bridge is very nice. How much do you want for it?
  18. I don't think you have it exactly right. So they say...3 times the fuel price is roughly the operating price (incl the fuel price). But... Many parts of airplanes cost as much or more if you fly less since they rot. So I figure my checkbook is sort of attached to the airplane whether I fly it or not. So I might as well fly it. In other words, you already agreed to spend a stupid amount of money owning a cool hunk-o-junk airplane even if you don't fly it and just keep it as a lawn ornament (but still in annual and in good shape). So Figure that's the overhead cost. Then when I fly, all I tell myself is ...besides that... I only think about how much the fuel costs.
  19. I had my m20k modified with an extra hole in the seat rails for the pilot seat for my long legs. No one wants to ride behind me! Luckily - the plane has pretty poor weight and balance for for people anyway so not not much lost. Last time a human rode directly behind me with all seats filled was my youngest son, when he was 70lbs still - now he is 16 and bigger... The most living creatures I have had on board is 14. Me, my oldest son, and a dozen chihuahua dogs, in a memorable pilots and paws mission.
  20. I have the same question - and I have a KFC200. Was there some announcement that this can drive my autopilot system now?
  21. hah! Yes! Even the same model airplane.
  22. I just now read it is 2.5:1. Beats out the flying squirrel - 1.98:1 https://academic.oup.com/jmammal/article/82/4/1026/2372735 Then there are flying snakes. I have a friend who studies those. Get back to me red bull when you throw a snake off a mountain and catch it in your pilatus.
  23. How did you get it without hazmat?
