N314EB First tease. The paint color you see is a modified version of a Ford auto color called, Kona Blue - you can google it - I first saw it on a Mustang on a Ford dealership lot. I fell in love with it and I was walking around the car taking pictures and the guy trying to sell me the car was wondering why he couldn't get me to go on a test drive. Its a real chameleon color - it looks very dark blue in the dark, lighter and lighter blue in the light and sometimes it looks purple. Modified as there is also a special product in the mid coat (clear coat). There is a sparkle-product - its micro glass beads that sparkle in the sunshine in a way you just cannot photograph. I have never seen a car with that stuff but I have seen boats with similar sparkle but usually larger sparkles - this is a modern substance. That is in addition to the standard pearl-metallic stuff in the paint itself. Then there are coats of plain clear on top of the mid coat.

The Nazi's may have called themselves socialist, but they were not socialists. They were fascists. Socialism as we interpret the word in today's formalism is something else entirely. Socialism is usually considered "lefty" and extremist left leads to what happened in Cuba for example under Castro. Extreme righty is what happened under Mussolini in Italy or Germany under Hitler. Extreme being the working word, extreme either way becoming ugly, and in all of those examples they became dictatorships and despite starting left or right came essentially to the same place. I worry today of our future too. But besides an extreme right, fascist dictatorship, the Nazi's distinguished themselves in history with a program of directed genocide. As amazing as their engineering achievements were, I always get the creeps in a museum when I see anything with their swastika markings. I think it is important that there exist museums lest we forget: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. George Santayana". And I repeat I don't begrudge anyone for keeping that stuff, but it does give me the creeps because I think of gas chambers that the airplane fought for at the same time I think of the airplane that symbol was cut from.

World wide the advancement in technology was amazing during WWII.

I find Nazi memorabilia creepy. I don't begrudge anyone that keeps the stuff but just saying its not like other historical relics.

Tragic Cessna 340 crash in Florida
aviatoreb replied to NotarPilot's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
How do we know it was really zero vis? 400 feet looks pretty low and they might be called the same thing off the cuf by the sheriff. -
Calling Seth, calling Seth.... I've been in Seth's plane with him - and I have no specific data to offer other than to describe that it is very fast, and I think it is faster at 4k or so than my rocket - with TKS - is. His Missile has no TKS. (and no step! That must be the difference).

Right - I missed those. And....SMOKING.... and eating big bags of Doritos and other trans-fats products while sitting on the couch and watching tv all day kills more Americans every day than a lot of other activities. But couch surfing rarely makes the news with a local Sherif standing at a news conference saying in disapproving tones, "well he was sitting on the couch when we found him and there were bags of Doritos and cheese whiz everywhere." -
Tragic Cessna 340 crash in Florida

Just some context - for the life of GA where people react as if flying an airplane smaller than an airbus is crazy and there is a screw loose in anyone who does it... And this same reaction comes from people around here many of whom do things that I would not do and I find them to be much more dangerous and scary to me. 1) Snowmobiles - especially over frozen lakes. Snowmobiles go 100mph and every year in this state we read stories about people nearby who died either by crashing into a tree or breaking through a frozen lake where there was a thin spot. 2) ATV's....crash into cars (driven on streets which is illegal), or crash into trees, or simply tip over into ditches. 3) Hunting - people seem to be constantly accidentally shooting each other. I don 't begrudge any of those people for doing those activities, but ... not for me. (P.S. my knock on hunting was not to be a anti gun something so lets not go there....I was just saying that I keep reading in the paper of two buddies going into the woods hunting and one of them accidentally shoots the other thinking it was a deer or something). ..and yet people are mostly fine with those activities and the risk associated with it, as am I, for others. (Runner up activities, jet ski, speed boat, canoe (yup), bicycles (I do that a lot - yikes), skate board, roller skates, bath tubs, sky diving ...well sky divers are crazy). -

My new design is maybe not dramatic - but to my eye I chose something timeless.

Do you see my post earlier in this thread? Paint is done but it got delayed in annual for a missing part and the Christmas mail. So with holidays I HOPE it will not be more than the week after this week coming. Jan 2? Anyway I figured I was going to post pictures once I have it in my hands rather than the partial in progress pictures I have from the shop. Soon! I hope...

I got something dramatically different.

Looking to Buy an Eagle or Early Ovation?
aviatoreb replied to Mike@Loves's topic in General Mooney Talk
I don't know but I don't own one - but I was thinking it took 10-11gph to go 170 in a TSIO360 machine. But you know better than me. But that is where my statement comes from. A common setting I go LOP at 12.5-13 and that gives about 175. At an altitude like 12.5. I actually don't like to run it lower than that since I worry it is getting sort if cold. But a rough memory on that since I don't operate like this much. -

I really like my rocket - it is a hot rod of the group. I would not describe it as the most efficient but it is quite efficient. In my experiments I figure I can go almost as efficient as a 231/252 original if I am disciplined enough to slow down and run at very low power settings - it goes roughly 231/252 fuel flows at 231/252 speeds. ...but usually I like to go faster - I can't help myself. Anyway its nice to have extra power just in case....there's something lively having allotta extra Hp on tap with the flick of the fingers on your right hand. Even when I'm not running fast, its a lovely feeling knowing its there. -

A balloon will do 230 knots over the ground with enough tail wind. -

I wouldn't worry about that. You have a most evolved version of the M20M. Those earliest Acclaims as you know all needed top overhauls in like 300 or 400 hrs and other newest of the line glitches to be resolved at owners expense. Plus the earliest acclaims are not as fast as the Acclaim type S so I am sure the speed gap is very small compared to your plane. -
Hi Dan and Maurader. Thanks for remembering that I actually have an airplane...I am beginning to forget myself! So the paint job is 100% done for like 3 weeks and then it was being annualed while also putting it back together since it was a complete disassemble style paint job. Well there is a smallest of parts that needs to be replaced - the darn it should have arrived already and still did not arrive as of yesterday. :-? I think its the Christmas season that's messing me up. Its supposed to be in the mail vs back ordered or anything. Anyway.....No one is working now until Wednesday. So for all appearances it looks like week after next I get it back since this holiday season is in the way - bah humbug! :-). Yeah I'm quite frustrated at all the delays that are one after the other and most of them had nothing to do with the shop or the airplane itself but mostly the infrastructure of the construction project at the airport. I have seen it in person (in partial stages) and for my tastes, it is the prettiest color I have ever seen on an airplane. A very very unusual substance was added to the paint that really makes it pop. I have told working colleagues whom I need to visit both at U Delaware and also at Princeton U that I will come "soon" and I keep delaying since I don't want to drive. And Crabs!!! But wait - if I come in Jan there are no crabs this time of year are there? No local crabs - the crabs they have are shipped from Louisiana or something if I remember right (I grew up in MD). Local crabs start in April I think. So she's blue, now, and I changed the tail number, and just this very moment I changed my signature block so it no longer says N10933 but it says N314EB. I have tons of pictures of the paint in progress and now all but done but I was waiting for the big reveal to show them. Or I could tease them out already.....

Mooney M20J glareshield overhaul
aviatoreb replied to MooneyTunes's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
WOW - that looks great. I wish I had done that when I sent my yokes in to aerocomfort earlier this year - I would have if I had known they do this. I will do this my next annual.
