  1. Will these new lights just replace the strobes and nav lights with LED's? Any chance of adding lights to them?
  2. I think you'd have to have a way to graph the G's that would show how fast and to what extent those happen and in which direction to find out if there was any damage. 2 G's over 10 seconds isn't going to hurt as many things as 1 G over a 1/4 of a second. So measuring the accelleration rate would be important. Besides how many of us are going to look at a ball in a tube while you're going through moderate to severe turbulance?
  3. And out of work comedians,
  4. Not to get between math majors and the grammar police but is there an app that would measure G loads? That may at least give an idea on what the turbulence had been before you slowed to Va.
  5. Time to start looking for a stewardess then, this may be expensive,
  6. Without getting my slide rule out while I'm traveling through turbulence, would someone describe what a 30 ft/sec or a 50/sec would be as in a reference to an example? Ie: a 30 would lift you off your seat (as in 1 g) and a 50 would peg you against the ceiling. I was at 12,000 ft at an IAS of around 135 kph and ran into some clear air turbulence (would describe it as moderate). I immediately slowed the aircraft however I'd like some reference points to turbulence. Thanks,
  7. Highflight, I have a CenturyII B and with a GPS it will fly most routes well. For an ILS or Rnav approach I switch it to the loc mode and it will fly the localizer with the needle pegged in the donut. I do wish I had altitude hold. I had a price from Sarasota for the Stec ah for $8,500. or for the complete Stech 30 w/ hold for $13,500. I can't justify that cost so I consider the altitude hold a bit of a luxury now.
  8. Semi retired and busier then before
  9. What about working out a compromise with yourself. If costs are 3-5X commercial, split the flying between the 2 at a ratio that would help offset the higher fuel and added costs (not fixed) and keep flying when you can to off set those days where flying helps the psychy. It's still a depressed market and it would be both harder to sell your plane and you'll lose money at the lower cost that aircraft are seeling for now. Those two things alone may offset keeping your plane for a while.
  10. I would highly recomend choosing the 750 over the 650, not only for size but they have much more utility in both visual referance of info but the resale value over the 650 will still be there if you sell it. Not to mention the geo referenced approach charts. I flew one for the first time last week and felt it added security to the approach.
  11. The more I look at it I agree, it is a good buy. A good pre purchase is a definite. I've been looking for something like this myself for a while but want some icing protection first. If its for real I doubt it will last long.
  12. Looks like a good buy. I have a J and when looking at a turbo plane with 2 more cylinders the cost of operating would be important. Depends on your mission also. Do you need to go high often?
  13. Did you check to make sure that the down load sd card has the same reference number that the GTN has?
  14. There is someone on Beechtalk that wants to buy a 530.
  15. Complete Av8or portable GPS with yoke mount, download cable and 12V charger. Used 6 months. $150.00 plus shipping SOLD
  16. And that was in June!
  17. I've been going over the relocation and worth of some of the pieces in my panel. Do you think that with XM weather and soon ADS-B weather that a storm scope is a necesary instrument?
  18. Very nice. Can you show some practical results in action?
  19. Utilitarian, functional but yet Cool!
  20. Bennett and Mooneypilot, Have you considered the JPI 900 instead of the larger 930?
  21. Just curious but can you just buy the sensors needed for the 900 if you kept the sensors only needed from the 830? The resale of the 830 may not be worthwhile but the overall cost of the 900 maybe less.
  22. I'm doing the same as you and upgrading later in the spring to an 900 that I'll flush mount in the panel so I'm interested in what you get for your 830. Can your shop use any of your current sensors for the 930? Nice looking paint by the way.
  23. My 201 is everything I'd had heard it would be and then some, and I've put more money in it than I should of for both creature comforts as well as modernization. If I were to move to another aircraft it would be towards more utilization to fit my needs. Iceing protection, a turbo and even though it's only myself 90% of the time maybe more room. I've spend a lot of money to get this plane to were I want it and it's flying great and is very dependable (fingers crossed). How can you complain about getting 160 knts @ 10+/- GPH and doing it with comfort and style.. If I were to pick my next plane it would probably be a 252, Bravo or a Beech F model. Of course thats considering a larger budget.
  24. Running LOP for some practice IFR Procedures.
  25. What are you replacing these with Norman?
