  1. Great improvement and I hope they go ahead and make it. It would be great if they installed some white LED's along with the coloured LED nav lights for us that don't have your wing tip style.
  2. My 78 J has only 1 light. has anyone heard of an STC for a second?
  3. BS yourself, The LED are also wider, having a better angle of view as well as giving more light. Come up here at night and I'll show you. I still have my old light which I'll never reinstall. Of course I didn't get mine from TSC farm supply like yours Byron. I have a real aircraft light.
  4. I have an 78 J also and put the 43 Whelan in when they first came out and I'm very happy with it. They are much brighter than the HID and use only 2 amps compared to the 12 from the original.
  5. If it's only the upholsery you can buy new ready made and ready to fit from Airtex.
  6. I believe Lasar had a stc for a hinge for that.
  7. Whats your need for a 252? If you're going between 9.5 and 11.5 maybe a 201 would work
  8. Why are you selling ?
  9. Looks great Brad. I have the same paint scheme and after they're buffed up I wouldn't want to change it to the newer style. You're going to have lots of fun,
  10. Aviation Consumer uses a public hotmail account?
  11. Thanks for the info Bennett. Definately going to change my shut down procedures.
  12. +1 on the sky tech. I had the starter installed along with a plane power alternator last year and haven't had a problem.
  13. Will these new lights just replace the strobes and nav lights with LED's? Any chance of adding lights to them?
  14. I think you'd have to have a way to graph the G's that would show how fast and to what extent those happen and in which direction to find out if there was any damage. 2 G's over 10 seconds isn't going to hurt as many things as 1 G over a 1/4 of a second. So measuring the accelleration rate would be important. Besides how many of us are going to look at a ball in a tube while you're going through moderate to severe turbulance?
  15. And out of work comedians,
  16. Not to get between math majors and the grammar police but is there an app that would measure G loads? That may at least give an idea on what the turbulence had been before you slowed to Va.
  17. Time to start looking for a stewardess then, this may be expensive,
  18. Without getting my slide rule out while I'm traveling through turbulence, would someone describe what a 30 ft/sec or a 50/sec would be as in a reference to an example? Ie: a 30 would lift you off your seat (as in 1 g) and a 50 would peg you against the ceiling. I was at 12,000 ft at an IAS of around 135 kph and ran into some clear air turbulence (would describe it as moderate). I immediately slowed the aircraft however I'd like some reference points to turbulence. Thanks,
  19. Highflight, I have a CenturyII B and with a GPS it will fly most routes well. For an ILS or Rnav approach I switch it to the loc mode and it will fly the localizer with the needle pegged in the donut. I do wish I had altitude hold. I had a price from Sarasota for the Stec ah for $8,500. or for the complete Stech 30 w/ hold for $13,500. I can't justify that cost so I consider the altitude hold a bit of a luxury now.
  20. Semi retired and busier then before
  21. What about working out a compromise with yourself. If costs are 3-5X commercial, split the flying between the 2 at a ratio that would help offset the higher fuel and added costs (not fixed) and keep flying when you can to off set those days where flying helps the psychy. It's still a depressed market and it would be both harder to sell your plane and you'll lose money at the lower cost that aircraft are seeling for now. Those two things alone may offset keeping your plane for a while.
  22. I would highly recomend choosing the 750 over the 650, not only for size but they have much more utility in both visual referance of info but the resale value over the 650 will still be there if you sell it. Not to mention the geo referenced approach charts. I flew one for the first time last week and felt it added security to the approach.
  23. The more I look at it I agree, it is a good buy. A good pre purchase is a definite. I've been looking for something like this myself for a while but want some icing protection first. If its for real I doubt it will last long.
  24. Looks like a good buy. I have a J and when looking at a turbo plane with 2 more cylinders the cost of operating would be important. Depends on your mission also. Do you need to go high often?
  25. Did you check to make sure that the down load sd card has the same reference number that the GTN has?
