  1. Question for the IA on this list: I ordered copies of my airplanes records on a CD (FAA sent them in a couple of days for a $10.00 fee) and noticed a few latest 337s were missing from a CD. Is FAA still requesting from IA 337s for their record? Are those mailed to local FSDO or OKC? I would like to know more before talking to IA who created those and see what we should do about it. Thank you.
  2. Yes but for M20F that is only 5% increase in the power which equals 1.6% increase of the speed. Climb performance would be noticeable, though.
  3. Woha! Olds coupe is back online again!! My wife and I were so disappointed (especially her) last year when we landed and were told city didn't want to insure it anymore! We have borrowed it on occasion for over 10 years. We chatted for half an hour with some great people including someone on airport board but flew elsewhere for a lunch. Were you there, by any chance? We'll definitely fly in for lunch. Thanks.
  4. I seem to remember a story of a Female Ferry pilot flying a Mooney across North Atlantic with her kid and changing the diaper. She eventfully tossed them through the storm window only to find them wrapped around the H-Stab upon the landing at her destination... Apparently lineboy brought her attention to it.
  5. yes, VW Golf. I know you can fold the seat down but otherwise trunk space i limited...
  6. Never miss a chance to spend bunch of money on tools and other toys to "save" on maintenance.
  7. Ouch, not good. Do you know what is the length of the rivets in the kit? I bought my rivets from Maxwell and they were Dia. 3/16" x 1 5/8" long. They were long enough to form a good head and yes, there's some swelling as hole diameter was larger then the rivet.
  8. I see, that explains it. I always wondered if my plane's elevators (and other controls) were properly balanced by the paint shop back in 2007. And I forgot to check that before removing hybrid weight from the elevator.
  9. I don't think corrosion has anything to do with it. I know the 68F underbalance value (with -17 weight) is same as the SB20-345A is calling for so that's nothing new. They mast have had some engineering data at the time. Also less underbalance is safer for Flutter so that's that. I see in your profile that you own M20C. Did you have a hybrid weights (-1)? One or both?
  10. What is the value of your underbalance? If you read the SB carefully you will noticed that with old (-1) weight manual calls for 1.57-1.75 lb underbalance and replacement weight (-17) calls for 1.09-1.3 lb underbalance. All I had to do is replace the weights and the solid weight (-17) being heavier came up within spec. No filing or adding lead.
  11. It doesn't matter. It's a tool, not a airplane installed part.
  12. Interesting. Not sure why would it be contact.... A/P is getting continuously good signal from GPS (to WP1) and when GPS changes to WP2, connection should be the same. Could it be it's the issue with GPS? I would be interested to hear more. What Autopilot do you have? I have Accutrac II in my M20F and it is working well however I am considering replacing all the electrolytic capacitors as a prevention in my "spare" unit. As a hobby I own and restore vintage stereo and electrolytic and some film caps are first to go, sometimes with noticeable results.
  13. Can you explain? my removed weight (-1) was 2.10 lb while a solid lead (-17) weight came up 3.28 (with installation holes). It makes sense as lead is heavier then steel rod, plus removed (-1) weight had an .75" diameter hole in the base of it.
  14. Denis. You can download the latest G5 installation manual from the Garmin website. It's quite detailed and all your questions will be answered. Good luck.
  15. Nice, functional panel. Who did the leather on the yokes? Thanks
  16. Thank you for posting this. It might be too late but I question shop's decision not to remove TKS panels. It seems too me from your pictures there's some gap between the skins and the panels that are not sealed and fluid and moisture could enter it and create corrosion you can't see. You said they injected sealant under the edges of the panel which tells me moisture could enter as well. Perhaps they loosen the panels to do that.
  17. I found that two years ago on my original to my m20F IO360. It couldn't be welded/repaired so 15 weeks later I received factory rebuilt engine.
  18. Yeah, If I were buyer I would say send the cash and I'll bring the plane to US. It might be worthwhile to investigate how much would cost to ferry it over Pacific. "Turbine Glasair lll"? Please, do tell!
  19. I am interested in solution as well. Perhaps this MaxDim dimmer controller: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/maxDimUnit.php?clickkey=5316 It's STC's for all the Mooneys...
  20. Well, My duct arrived and is marked "Aeroduct". That tells me it's probably manufactured by Thermoid Aeroduct which makes SCAT, SCEET ducts and a lot of custom aviation parts.
  21. Inboard inspection panel under (right) the wing. My understanding is that's the factory setup.
  22. Interesting... How do you get out of left seat without sliding to the right one? I normally slide to copilot seat, and grab the center tube with my left, copilot A-pillar with my right hand and get up.
