  1. Where is the plane located? What is your insurance minimum dual requirement? As Pete mentioned, Mooney Flyer has a good list of CFI through the US you can use to ferry the plane and get some duel time and instruction at the same time. That would be a good experience to have as well but weather at PNW is challenging at this time of the year so you must be flexible. https://themooneyflyer.com/cfi.html While having a Training is never bad idea and I hear MAPA's PPP is a great program you don't need to wait for it to get checked out. I was a low time pilot when I got my complex endorsement on club's '77 M20J in few hours with CFI. I never had problems landing it and learned a lot. Few year later, after flying rented Arrow and Cutlass RG I bought my F in CA. I got the checked out from CFI familiar with my plane and flew it home to Seattle. I did have generator failure over KHIO which made a decision to overnight in NorCal and continue next day very good. Welcome to Mooney ownership Where do you plan to keep it? Hangar or Tie down?
  2. Wow, it is expensive but then it also have an "aviation" in description.
  3. This picture was taken 5 years ago at Hodges airpark, south of Savannah. I was told it was sitting there for a long time but now it's not visible on Google Satellite photo and flightaware shows some intrepid sole flew it in 2022. I hope it gets restored...
  4. How many cracks do you have? I was told by a prop shop that two crack is maximum and had to be stopped drilled. I have Hartzell prop on my M20F so that might be different. Anyway, I got a replacement and installed it and old one is sitting in it's box for 10+ years. IIRC back in a day even non airworthy spinners were worth some few hundred dollars so now I'd expect more. I might fix my old spinner if legal but would probably have to strip the paint (matching trim of my plane) for the repair. Thank you for the links.
  5. I wouldn't be surprised. My F had mess of connections and inline fuses installed over 50+ years. I found out all of avionics were tied to that one CB which could create disaster. Eventfully I added the additional CB row with Buss bar and cleaned the wiring.
  6. This is my experience after fueling to the tab and checking the used fuel by engine monitor, however I saw some people saying it's the hole.
  7. Real question is: Is it 25 Gallons when fuel touches the bottom of the tab or is level with the hole through the tab?
  8. Are you looking for a door handle or door pull? In case of later, my F has just a leather strap. Any upholstery shop can make you one and some owners reported using a piece of leather belt.
  9. I always confirm by pushing hard aft that seat is fully locked and insist passengers, especially new ones do the same. However, I don't think it would be a big of a problem for myself in my M20F. I'm just short of 6'4" and for takeoff (and landing) I have a seat at the last hole on the rails. Normally, in flight I slide the seat aft to rest on the aft safety pin (cotter-pin in my plane) and I have still a reach to the rudder pedals. Difference in seat location is probably few inches. I can see for shorter person, that would be more pronounce slide aft from seat positioned further forward and would create a significant problem. I suspect long body Mooney has longer rails and this might be different. It looks that 4 rail replacement is quite involved in the Mooney and two people working are needed. Would you care to share how much labor is needed? Regards,
  10. Copy that. I'm curious was there any difference between three tachs? Asking for a friend...
  11. As per Type certificate, placard should be: "RETRACT FLAPS AFTER LANDING." (hydraulic flaps only)
  12. ^^^ THIS ^^^^ Years ago my IA insisted on honing and and new rings for R&R cylinder on my IO360.
  13. My wife and I enjoyed staying few times in Coeur d'Alene, ID as well as Boise if you like a bigger town with more bars and restaurants. I am sure it would be easy to find hotel at Coeur d'Alene once the summer is over so I'd go there... I'm sure you'll enjoy sun River as well.
  14. It's definitely extensive job. I installed the kit during installation OHd engine. No prop, baffling and open access to the instrument panel (used the opportunity for some instrument upgrade). it still took me couple of days with rewiring behind the panel work and such. On my F, front RHS baffle needed the modification but that was not that bad. I say it's wort it as I always have a full charge on 1000rpm with landing lights on and such. Good luck
  15. Steve, Bellofram makes rolling diaphragms in different sizes and you can get their PDF manual with link below. I know they have smaller ones for the wing servo but this one is looking bigger, almost as big as the servo for retractable step. https://www.belloframdiaphragm.com/assets/documents/brd-design-manual.pdf?updated=1559828098 Have a look in the manual if your size is available or give them a call. I spoke to them years ago but never needed the parts as my servos are still in the good condition. Good luck
  16. I always wonder why people call it "backwards tail" if it's facing forward??
  17. I got a set couple of years ago for my M20F and were very good, however I have a suggestion for improvement. How hard is to modify your dies and make the aft baffle seals somewhat longer? If you look at my unfinished engine install, you'll see that AFT RHS seal is somewhat short and I had to run the the RH Side Seal around the corner at the aft baffle. This creates a hard point in the corner and wrinkles the seals when top cowl is installed. if you ever correct it, i'd be interested to buy it but it's not a bif deal as my new engine runs very cool. LHS seal seems about right but i wouldn't mind being a little longer as I can always trim it. If you or others have an suggestion, please shoot. Thank you
  18. ^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^ I believe LPAero.com was selling Latches years ago when i bought new windows.
  19. yes, last time I did the oil change, it took them 8 weeks. Not sure why.
  20. Any reason going to Dorval (Trudeau) airport? I would suggest St. Hubert (CYHU) on the South shore for better prices. I haven't been there in ages but I remember CYUL being pricey with fuel and service as it's being intended for BizJets. Good luck
  21. I installed springs on each side of the eyebolt like your picture 2 and adjusted exhaust for minimum preload. My plane actually had no exhaust support springs installed when I bought it and I operated it like that for 15-16 years with no issues. I finally decided to installed it with new engine install and exhaust couple of years ago. it seems these springs create more trouble then are solution...
  22. Yves, This would be a great trip! How much fuel do you thing you'd need?
