  1. It is end of an era here at KPAE as Boeing delivers final B-747 To Atlas Air. You can watch it on Flight aware departing soon: https://flightaware.com/live/flight/GTI747/history/20230201/1600Z/KPAE/KCVG Atlas Air revealed a special flight plan for a final delivery flight:
  2. you should read the SB M20_345A (that's Rev A) and get your facts from the horse's mouth. Also, AD has few details about time and cost (at $85/h) for inspection and eventual replacement.
  3. Looking at the IPC, your C should have weight p/n 430016 and F 430018-1. SB calls for 430016-7 as a replacement. I have no idea if these are the same or interchangeable. BTW I just received the email form FAA that this is an AD2023-02-04. Airplanes are fun.
  4. I read they patented the folding entry door on M22 but never checked for that...
  5. And LASAR is a good example for years selling PMA'd parts that are similar (or even identical) to Mooney OEM parts...
  6. If I recall correctly, someone was looking to buy Serviceable Hartzell prop as a ferry prop recently. i am sure complete prop is worth more than just the blades, regardless of 100h AD.
  7. That's a big crack, it has been there for a while and then fell apart. Perhaps you can find used part, C of that age should be reasonably easy to find? I would be surprised that J "accordion" intake duct would fit as looking at pictures, seems different size. Good luck
  8. Alan, Fay surface seal is applied to the mating surfaces of the wing before the components are riveted. It is applied for corrosion protection (often on lower lobe of the fuselage), in wings, or with different sealant to the Fuel tank area. Installer would apply it to the flanges of the ribs and mating surfaces of the skins (upper and lower) and spars. Let's say on the sketch below fuel tank is between Main spar, ribs 5 and 3 and FWD plate (fuel tank boundary) part 7. All the upper mating surfaces are highlighted where would have applied Fuel Sealant and then riveted which would squeeze sealant out. Lower surface would be done the same way as well as spars. Mechanic then forms a filet seal with that squeeze out and adding additional sealant as needed. That's forms the seal between the mating parts (Faying surface seal) and Filet seal. This is how all "real" planes are done, big Boeings, BBD, Gulfstream and such. Not sure about KC135 being military tanker weigh/cost is not the factor. Our Mooneys have only filet seal applied after wing was built. Having said that, years ago, on a Mooney List, someone mentioned Factory started doing it the right way, but I have no knowledge of it.
  9. In the wing?? I think that would be correct to say KC135 has 16 bladders in the fuselage under the floor, but I believe Fuel tanks in wings are integral like 707, 727 etc... unless it's military thing as someone is always shooting at them. Reason why Mooney tanks are (prematurely) leaking is for not using faiyng surface seal process during the building of the wing and only filet sealing after the wing (Ribs, spars and skins) are riveted.
  10. I can attest that. Few years ago (17!!?) shortly I bought my F, I spoke to the gentlemen at the IE boot on the fly-in/air-show at KEUG about the probe issue with the old EGT4 instrument. I wasn't sure if instrument should have thinner or bigger probe. He reached under the counter pulled out the correct one and gave it to me; free! I wasn't even the original buyer; instrument was installed 1-15y before I bought the plane. Needless to say, when CGR30 came out it was top on my Santa list.
  11. I am not familiar with GI 275 as I installed engine monitor before Garmin came on market. While Twin CGR30 might be ultimate solution, I went with only one, CGR-30P and additional Aerospace Logic FL202 for Fuel levels. This gave me all the needed functions on my 67F. FL202 is 2.25" diameter unit so an adaptor plate to mount into 3 1/8" hole is needed but it looks very slick, and I am very happy with this combo. Advantage is you can keep the original RH panel (I didn't) since you are removing original RPM and MP/Fuel pres. instrument.
  12. If I understand correctly, RAM door is not closed during the flight... I had the same problem and reason was the control cable outer shell gets worn and creeping aft due to less clamp friction resulting in door opening. My solution was to safety wire it hence not allowing cable relative movement to the clamp... A new cable outer shell would help but I didn't need to replace it. Is it really original, Donaldson filter? My understanding is that it's not available and replacement is Bracket.
  13. Those look solid but you can check with the strong magnet. "Hybrid" weights have steel plug... Mooney came with revised (Rev A) SBM20-345 with additional instruction. You may inspect the weight now (and at each annual) but you have to remove them which is not really practical.
  14. Venair is manufacturer that makes all sorts of ducts including SCEET. SCEET is double wall silicone duct while SCAT is single wall silicone duct. I think original Mooney ducts are SCAT but here many people use SCEET.
  15. LASAR sell the triangular part, Cover, to hide that gap. They also sell spacers and panel shock absorbers (made by Lord) for reasonable price. Or you can buy separately. For some reason I had to buy the longer spacers from McMaster to support the panel and fit the Cover better.
  16. David, not in manuals but definitely names are on the title block of all technical drawings for the airplane. That would typically be names of: Draftsmen, Checker, Engineer, Stress, ME, Approval (manager) and such. Good luck finding it some drawing. In my engineering career I often recognized names of (older) friends and colleagues that worked on some older programs, even for other companies.
  17. Google map copyright is 2022 and I estimate picture is about year old as it looks like they completed markings on east end of Taxiway Echo, across the closed RWY 29. It seems trucks are still there and some barriers in front of (deleted) 777-9 jets. I am not sure how to check actual date picture was taken on google maps. That closed runway turned into parking lot in late 2000’s having number of “troubling teens” 787s parked, after that they had unfinished KC46s and then some 3-4 years ago we have 777-9s. And even today, after all the Boeing production cuts at KPAE, flight line is almost full. This is the first time I’ve seen this done at KPAE and wasn’t aware it’s a common practice. I find it strange. Attached is (bad) screen capture from Map Quest. Picture is taken in September-October of 2022 as they have started reconstruction of Taxy Echo by the fire station (highlighted yellow). You can see a dozen of planes…
  18. Bingo! And the winner is: @Ragsf15e There are dozens of planes deleted from the satellite photo, like all the planes on the flight line, the number of unfinished 777-9 on the closed Rwy 29 or around the Boeing plant, as well as the KC46 tankers getting furnished at the south end of the filed. Even the chopped wing B727 used for firefighters training is gone! I can assure you those planes were never moved, they were photo-shopped and deleted (canceled?) from the picture. I really wonder why anyone would do that! Maybe Boeing asked for it but why? If you go and look KMWH, you’ll see hundreds of dormant 737 Maxes waiting for fix and delivery, not to mention nearby Whidbey NAS with all the P8s and F18s… If you go to the Map-quest, you can see picture taken this fall (after Taxiway Echo constructing started) with dozens of Boeing planes present in every corner of the field. Strange.
  19. This is the test for all KPAE and transient pilots. Have a look online (google map) using link below or attached screen grab. Something is gone, missing. What would that be? https://www.google.com/maps/place/Paine+Field/@47.908145,-122.2835861,924m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x54900159b82b97fd:0x4e3571c12e342514!8m2!3d47.908145!4d-122.2813974?hl=en I'll give you guys a day to figure it out but I'm sure someone will notice it right away and say it. There's no prize involved, BTW. Good luck.
  20. Skip Thanks for posting the link. I had this issue of the false target in last couple of flights. Most notable was yesterday over 0S9 while maneuvering during my BFR. "Traffic" popped on my ipad and my CFI friend's phone and got our attention.
  21. It doesn't call the threaded insert, but 2 are part of the "Hand-hold Bracket" item 11 in the picture attached. Non removable standard part in Detail-assy wouldn't normally be called-out in IPC. Pull out strap is attached to this with two 1/4" screws with three washers each. You can find it in as item 20 in Cabin interiors. I'm sure you'll have the manual. I would really need to remove the panel to see how the LH visor is installed. I honestly don't remember as I've redid the panels 15 years ago but from the outside it looks the same. I'm sure LASAR documentation would tell the story as well. Edit: it might not be the threaded insert there; just a machined thread for a screw since tubular frame is steel. .
  22. I guess I wasn't clear. The Visors are made by LASAR, so not original but are using existing inserts where the pull strap is originally installed on RHS (as per IPC). I don't remember is LHS is with same insert, I would need to check LASAR installation documentation or remove the trim.
  23. Ross, As I mentioned, copilot visor is installed into the outboard insert for the Pull strap so it must be original. To be clear, pull strap installation has two inserts, only the OBD one is used for the visor. It was years ago when I last time removed the interior trim but according to my memory, Pilot side has the similar insert.
  24. Interesting. I think they are plug and play. My early 67F has LASAR sun-visors (looked like ones you made) attached to the outside corners. I believe threaded inserts on both sides look factory and RHS is used to attach Pull Strap (item 19 in IPC). I would suggest removing interior trim panels and check, you might be pleasantly surprised.
  25. I am not sure if 67F originally came with Sun visor; I couldn't find them in IPC. My plane came with the set of LASAR Sunvisor installed with STC (I think). You'll need to talk to them to see if available. Good luck.
