  1. You and Vic are correct. To complete the install you will need CGR30P and additional Fuel level gage. There are couple of options and I went with Aerospace logic F202.
  2. I haven't been there in years but there were no issues with obstructions. It's definitely a perspective of long lens on camera used to take a photo. Now, if you head in other direction from Paine field, you'll get to Langley, W10. Taking off north, you'll have some tall trees to clear very close to the end of the runway that got taller over the years in PNW weather.
  3. Perhaps this will help. It seems you have a short cable as it's a very simple system.
  4. ^^^^^^^ This! When I bought my plane it had a repaint with bad prep decade ago so I budgeted for a paint job. That is the only way to correct the issues and to look nice. Not the answer you want to hear with today's prices of quality paint jobs...
  5. I might have a picture showing box install. it was attached to the flat sheet metal bracket that is itself attached to the steel tube frame in copilot wheel whel in my 67F tubing had a couple of threaded bosses for #10 screws that I used to attach the bracket. Your model might not have them. box is partially covered by side carpeting on copilot side
  6. I replaced all original engine instruments with CGR30p except for the fuel gages. Those were done by Aerospace logic FP202 i love the cleanest of installation and reliability is great. I highly recommend it. I did the install myself and estimate 30+ h with all new copilot panel
  7. While I agree the new EI connectors are better then the old ones (easier to work with) with little care the original ones can be as reliable. You need to make sure the wire gage is appropriate and both wires are crimped bu the set screw. I don’t think you need Locktite it but I used shrink wraps on all CGR30 connectors regardless of what EI recommended ymmv
  8. While I have set up 1800wxbrief site to file ICAO flight plan for couple years now, i filed a number of pop up flight planes with simple M20p/g, x hours of fuel and number souls on board with no complaints from ATC. They do all the work I didn’t call flight service to file for over 15 years so I can’t help you there. this comes from pilot who learned ICAO plans first. cheers
  9. Replacing the side windows is allowed under owner maintenance. that is one of the first jobs I did after buying my plane years ago. It is not difficult job, parts are reasonable inexpensive (for airplanes, at least) and i was quite happy with results. I’ve done it on ramp as I didn’t have an access to the hangar at the tim good luck
  10. How was it? few years ago volunteers restored the B727 serial 001 (N7001U) and flew it short distance from PAE to museum at BFI It was painted outdoors with rollers. I would not paint my Mooney that way. speaking of Vampire: I found out there is one next row at PAE.
  11. 1967 M20F with some J mods (windshield, gaps, windows etc…): 2740 MTOW, just short of 1690 empty weight and 1050+ useful load. Payload is 666lb with 64 gal fuel.
  12. ^^^^^^^ I agree with this.
  13. I would think so. You could get the answer from a prospective buyer that was investigating the same plane or maintainer familiar with that plane. Sometimes eve the owner can give useful feedback.
  14. yes! but it's the updated part most of us fail.
  15. No E's in 77. only 7 M20F for $38,500 according to data: http://www.mooneyevents.com/chrono.htm
  16. According to Mooney events website, 1977 M20C was $35k and M20J was 41,200-45,500.
  17. Google "rubber edge trim"; there should be a number of options you can choose from. I replaced mine years ago after the paint job was complete and it's still holding well.
  18. Without looking into details it looks like POTUS is visiting LA and will be in the couple of different locations over the time. You have inner 10NM ring (no flying at all) and outer 30NM ring where you can IFR or fly with squawk code.
  19. Well, our flight was to KVGT (North las Vegas) so we were extra motivated not to stop.
  20. 9h 15' in the air! You're are better man then I! My wife and I did 6:00 once in our stock M20F and said never again...
  21. @OSUAV8TER Not really interested to buy. I am skeptical as well and only reason for the post is as someone was saying about the cowl and not being available. From what I remember, Lopresti would not stock those even before the merger. I believe they would build to order as I remember David offering one on Likedin for a good price since someone canceled it... It's definitely a great mod, albeit expensive as gives quite a speed increase for M20F & E's, more so then M2J that has better cowl to start with. Regards,
  22. Very generous from Sabermech but what are the chances of holes on the used part matching the ones on his plane?
  23. Thank you for the Pirep! I knew the website but I never use them. Last Winter I had a problem with my KX-165 and used Bevan Aviation in Wichita (316) 946-4870) and was very pleased with them. Jake is member on MS. My unit was powering up (unlike yours) so not fully comparable, but they did similar work according the description for much less money. Rich, I would call Bevan first... Good luck
  24. I am almost 100% certain that restriction is 2100-2350. That is how my original Tach was marked as it is now my engine monitor (CGR30).
  25. So Does anyone know what is exactly is EMAPA? It seems they collect and sell (maybe?) parts and STCs for JPI, EI and others including LoPresti... including their Mooney cowl: https://www.emapa.aero/Mooney-Cowl-Kit-p/mooney-cowl-kit.htm They were bought by WAT some 3 years ago and wonder how accurate all this is?
