SOLD!! B-Kool portable air conditioning - NEW in the box.
Igor_U replied to Igor_U's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
I reduced the price to $200 plus shipping. If it doesn't sell, I will keep it and use it on occasion when weather is really hot up here or flying down south. Thank you. -
There are few available on ebay. More expensive but if you need one, they are available for now. I was lucky buying oil and filter some time ago at Spencer aircraft... They are out as well, AFIK.

Climb Performance- POH Also Optimistic?
Igor_U replied to 802flyer's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
I am quite certain that if you compare 67 POH with 68 and later, speed are different, with newer POH being more realistic. Perhaps Vertical speed were changed as well? My modified 67 F (201 Windshield, gaps, LASAR cowl) matches the book speeds but not really the VS, especially in the summer. I also do not use RAM air below 4000'. -
Actually For me, the moral of a story is to buy better airplane.

1988 Mooney PFM (Porsche Powered) for sale on Barnstormers!
Igor_U replied to Ethan's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
Hmm I really don't understand someone wanting this one! For me, that was a step back from J, performance wise and cost, rarity now notwithstanding. Especially with this asking price! And not to mention how Porsche exited the market. I think you have better chance finding supports and parts for TIO541-A1A in M22 then this bird. one of a kind? Sure, but in reality lawn ornament. -

I missed it as I was flying back from Europe. And then, next few days were miserable and the furnace in our hose came ON. -
Great unit. I have brand new B-Kool unit (12V) for sale in the Classified parts section. Please PM me if interested.

Hello, I received this unit a week-two ago and never used it; I just opened the box to see if it is complete. It is 12V A/C and reviews on the web are great but I just figured I'll never use it in Seattle or PNW. When we go to the trip down south we usually have bag or two on the back seat, hence this one is for sale.. I am asking $200 plus shipping. Price on the Amazon Prime is $449(!?) while on their website is $300 +S/H. Please PM me with zip code for shipping cost and if you have any questions. Payment by Paypal friends and family. This is the description and specs of A/C: B-Kool is an affordable portable air conditioning and cooling system for your airplane! It was developed by two private pilots who saw the need for a cooling solution that wouldn't break the bank. Using a combination of ice and water, B-Kool provides up to an hour of 40º cool air using just 10 lbs of ice and a minimal amount of water. B-Kool is NOT an evaporative cooler and works well in high humidity areas. B-Kool will hold up to 20 pounds of ice giving you over 2 hours of cool air. If you use it during taxi, climb, and landing and leave it off at cruise altitude you'll stay cool and comfortable for the entire flight. Because the B-Kool weighs less than 10 pounds empty you can easily move it to your camper, airplane, boat or any area where 12 or 24v DC current is available. Cool-Flex, a flexible and expandable air duct can be expanded to over 2 feet and positioned so air can be ducted exactly where you want it to cool. The components in B-Kool are marine grade so you can enjoy it for years to come with out the worry of anything more than basic maintenance. Low cost solution to cooling 40º F vented cool air Provides up to two (2) hours of cool air Great for aircraft, campers, boats and more Environmentally friendly 12 and 24 volt models available Draws less than 4 amps on 12v systems and less than 2 amps on 24v systems. Air velocity is an industry high at almost 36 mph Optional wireless remote control Dimensions: 18"W x 13"D x 15"H. Approximately 10 pounds (empty). Attached are the stock photos and the box: Thank you.

Looking for a Hartzell 2-blade for a 1965 M20E
Igor_U replied to N177MC's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
I saw a couple on Barnstormers recently -
Yes I am leaning towards leaving as well. Not that it really bothers me but red light flashing gets the attention of my passengers as well. today we flew flamping to Cavanough bay 66S and temps at 9500 were 54F. Oil temps at cruse was 189 with pressure 89-92 psi (yellow). It’s the takeoff where i get 110+ psi flashing red in my monitor
-
There's another thread regarding low oil pressure but I have the other question: I have a rebuilt engine in my M20F that consistently has a high oil pressure, especially when cold. Temps in PNW are not really hot and quite often on a takeoff roll (oil temps 100F) it would go into red (100 psi). I have newer EI CGR30P engine monitor with oil pressure transducer and I believe it's accurate. In cruse, in a cool (standard) day pressure would go into yellow (90 psi) and in summer is just bellow 90 psi (in green). Idle on the ground, it's not uncommon to start with 105-110 psi (even more on a cold day) and go bellow 100 psi only after few minutes. On a takeoff after 10'+ of taxi, runup and wait, pressure always get to 105+ psi I understand that Lycoming has an oil pressure pickup at different location then Conti and there's SB increasing max pressure to 115 psi but EI flashing warnings at the startup and takeoff is annoying. But some people say oil pressure can't be too high... So, question is: my annual is in 3 weeks so should I ask my IA to reduce the pressure (remove the washer) on the engine or not? Engine is running great, no oil leaks and uses 1 qt over 10-12h. Thank you.

Anyone have a source for baffles for a M20F?
Igor_U replied to Oldguy's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
LASAR still has a number of baffles available but those are not always cheap. https://lasar.com/baffle-baffle-seals You'll need your parts catalog to get all the P/Ns you need. You might want to find a good sheet metal guy and make them. -
M20J MSE did not come with turbo from the factory. There was an old STC to install Rayjay turbo and there are few owners on MS that have it. They might provide more answers...

I believe some of the prices are really old and hence low. You better check Air Power website for new, high Lycoming and continental OH prices. A year and half ago I paid almost $35k for Lycoming zero time engine (OH was $4k less). IIRC, now that engine is close to $45k (not a typo)!! OH is cheaper but at the time I did it, Lycoming would not OH engine older then 38y; I had to go with rebuilt. Field OH were not much cheaper (some were even more then Lycoming) and when is,, it typically does not include everything factory would do. You get what you paid for, in my experience. Good luck with your plane search. If you can afford it, go with M20K (252).

Stanton, interesting point. But, IM and Garmin tech confirmed, its a magnetic track. It even say in window I'm not sure how, though.
-
James, I understand the reason of grounding the pin 3 but I was also told that grounding it disables configuration of Airspeed. It's all good if that's the issue (it be easy fix) but I don't remember we done that during the install. Thank you.

Need some Serious brain power on this problem! HELP!
Igor_U replied to Austintatious's topic in General Mooney Talk
yeah, disturbs me as well since I have Surefly installed on left mag side. It is working great, though and would not like to go back as I removed SoS and associated wiring and sold Left magneto. -

What spark plugs do you have? Years ago, I had similar issue in 2 flights before annual spark plug would go off line. It turned out 6 out of 8 Champion spark plugs had much higher resistance than specified. We replaced all with Tempest plugs and problem went away. My new engine came with Champions, though... -
To all, G5 was bought less then 18 months ago and had a latest software so we didn't need to do software loading procedure as described per 6.3.5 of Install manual. Software version it came with is 6.82. I got a call form Garmin tech in less then 30' I emailed them and tech suggested to update the software on a new SD card (FAT-32 formatted, whatever that means). He said current version is 8.00. Another thing he mentioned is that G5 has data logging and could be downloaded to the card for them to diagnose it. We'll look at that for sure. The other question was why no reference speeds were configured to G5. Do you guys have that on your unit? Anyone is missing that? We just didn't have that option available (airspeed configuration) when calibrated the G5. According to Garmin tech, this is the feature used on G5 2nd installation (HSI) when the Pin 3 is grounded on the main connector (9 pin). So, it might be so simple that we had Pin 3 grounded and need to remove that. I hope so it's that simple. Looking at the install manual, I see no reason why we would do that so I'm afraid it might be something else. Annual is coming in a month so my IA and I will look into this for sure. Thank you.

Adam, Simply put, two GPS tracks are different. And I believe the G5 is off become if I am on airway close to waypoint, my track and bearing to waypoint (VOR) is spot on on panel mount GPS to what I see on moving map. G5 is 4 deg off. Keep in mind, G5 has no GMU11 magnetometer so it's shows magnetic track (no magnetic drift)...

I have Garmin G5 (certified) installed in lieu of Attitude indicator and it's getting WAAS GPS signal from DTX 355 transponder (As well as it's dedicated dash antenna). Unit was calibrated for Attitude (pitch and rill) during the install and is quite accurate but it's GPS track displayed is 3-4 degrees off the old panel GPS navigator. Now, being new unit and such I would expect G5 to be accurate but recently, I paid more attention while flying and it seems G5 is off. Simply put on last few cross country IFR flights I would fly radial off VOR and the old GPS would track it showing correct tracking while G5 was off. Same with following localizer during the approach, 3-4 deg difference. Reading the install and Maintenance manual, I see no way of adjusting this. What do you guys think? Is there a way to correct for that and why the difference? Curiously, my EFB (FlyQ) seems to agree with G5!? I really need to look it it again but, as I said panel GPS seems to track Airways with correct Tracking and location on moving map. Another G5 calibration question: It seems manual is calling for Air speed configured (Vne, Vno, Vy etc). but my G5 just does not have that option under configuration page. I downloaded the correct revision of install manual when bought the unit. Is that something that is not on all units? Does anyone have configured ref speeds for your plane on G5? Thank you.
