  1. I'm on my way!
  2. so the IPC is wrong....and thats an FAA approved document.
  3. You could put that in the AD. Quality escapes, along with ADs need to be bounded.
  4. Ross, the factory should have the as built configuration of every serial number. If they don't, I hope the MIDO fines them. The AD is way to broad. It puts the burden on the operator, and none on the manufacturer.
  5. an AME is an Aviation Medical Examiner. I think you want an A&P......
  6. If your going to change the oil at 25 hours, why don't you see what a multi weight oil does for you before you start doing anything?
  7. Congratulations Scott. Is this going to be the retirement home? Is it near Wichita or would you be making the pilgrimage back home?
  8. Rest in peace Fantom.
  9. I think we all need to support chief before spruce buys them up too......
  10. yes, they are black.
  11. I thought he would. So he'll throw an 8110 on the engineering documenting the mod for your serial number right?
  12. the last overhaul I had done, the shop replaced the cam and lifters with DTC parts from Lycoming. The shop told me this is Lycoming solution to galled cams and that Lycoming guarantee's them. I just smiled and said, we'll see.......
  13. It does. Your DER just approves the engineering and your A&P installs the engine to the FAA approved engineering. Then references the drawing on his 337. Just ask BOB if he is willing to do that.
  14. Where's the math that says the probability of failure, for the next flight is greater than 1x10-9 for a 60 year old airplane? Fix before flight is ridiculous, especially when there is no solution to the problem This is just as good as the trim hinge AD that came out a few years ago. Its only a matter of time before the FAA turns this piece of non engineering into another AD. Yes I'm annoyed.
  15. The Mooney CM manual, which would have been approved by the MIDO, should have a clause that would require a change in part number if the methods of construction have changed.
  16. Well that's true to Ross. I hadn't thought of that. I was just sharing my experiences with the author. I usually fly alone, not a lot of stuff in the airplane but me. I put in two pumps of flaps for both take off and landing. My landing config is the same as my take off config. It simplifies a go around, just my personal preference.
  17. My experiences are exactly as you describe. I put a pencil mark where I want it to be for takeoff based on how the aircraft responds and feels and I find that I set my trim the same for take off as I do landing. I have an F model as well. I have never flown a c model or a long body but I would guess the airframe reacts differently.
  18. https://hawkaircraft.com/ Joey worked magic on mine. It took longer then we both wanted but the quality was outstanding.
  19. Just add a redundant switch. Is Bob going to pay the repair bill when my Nav Com stops working?
  20. I found this link when trying to figure out what database I'm going to need. https://support.jeppesen.com/article?&aid=kA24W0000005GlE I have a 540 and 440 installed in my aircraft, Does this mean I only need to purchase one database subscription and I can load it into both boxes? Anyone else doing this? Any limitations?
  21. Thats correct, I have a three bladed prop and the range is shifted accordingly. I thought it was a Lycoming restriction caused by a resonance in the crank that flowed into the TDCS.
  22. I got the same letter. I suspect he sent it to every M20F owner in the country.
  23. your friend was just lucky. The airport just didn't report it to the county or he kept the airplane at a private strip. For people like you describe, GA has a use tax. The use tax is calculated the same way as the ad valorem tax....imagine that.
  24. Is the avionics master something that is part of the type data or do you think it was a mod after it left the factory?
  25. In general you will pay a tax on 40% of the assessed value of your airplane. Its called an ad valorem tax. So when you fill out the form, I don't think I would mention the new engine overhaul,, or the new paint job, or the new avionics suite you just installed.....
