  2. Check the parts manual for pictures, there are sleeves/spacers that go over the axle and center the wheel.
  3. This changed several years ago to help with safety. With a letter of authorization you can now rent for the purpose instruction and provide instruction for hire in an experimental provided it is not primary training.   5. We used to make make a similar seal at a large Aerospace company I worked for. We had a male mandrel that was turned slowly with a motor. We had 3 fixed spray guns that sprayed a 2 part rubber like liquid onto the surface. On the opposite side we a couple of heat lamps. The process produced about 1 seal per hour. Some of the seals required a light cloth reinforcement in the center layer. The material was very similar to the rubber on the servos and had something like a 40 year pack life.
  6. You might consider removing all the injectors and cleaning them in Hoppe's #9 before spending a lot of time with Gami test. Once you are sure they are completely clean then rerun the test and move the injectors around if needed.
  7. Here is a picture of the safety cord they are using to prevent the center part from falling out. The ends are a heavy duty electrica connector bent 90 deg. The length appears to be set so that it will tighten up just before the rubber pulls off.
  8. Some of the Britain actuators use a piece of cord with a ring terminal crimped on each end. It is internal to the actuator and connects under the head of the bolt on each end of the servo.   9. Any chance you weighed the plane before stripping it? It would be interesting to know how much weight it lost.
  10. I've saw some very small ones that don't blow air, they are in the form of a slip on seat cover or vest that circulates the cool water through small tubes.

  12. Take the tach and mp out and put a 900 in. An IR thermometer on the exhaust stack pipe will usually point out the offending cylinder.

  15. There is no encryption, using the draft copy of DO 282B which can be found online it was very easy to parse the recoded rf once the demod part of the code was done.
  16. A while back I was curious about the data being transmitted from my ADSB out box and recorded RF output as IQ data. After writing some software to demodulate the FM transmission I was able to parse the data that was being sent. The top graph is the Theta component of the IQ data, the second is the demodulated waveform showing the individual bits of data and the data below that is my aircraft info. It was only a couple of nights work.
  17. I have played around and recorded some of the 978mhz out transmissions from my transmitter with a software defined radio. The modulation scheme is Frequency shift keying and was fairly easy to write code to demodulate the IQ recorded data files and produce the stream of 1's and 0's. After finding a draft copy of the protocol I was able to parse out all the data about my flight. I'll post some pictures tomorrow when I get to work.
  18. Be sure the 200vdc is present. I had a blown transistor in the hv switching power supply that kept mine from coming on. Luckily the transistor was much cheaper than the display. If I remember correctly these radios also use 2 different displays made by different manufactures. I think they require a resistor swap when swapping to the other manufactures display.
  19. There is also a second isolated power input that can be connected to the avionics bus in the event that the Circuit Breaker mounted next to the master relay fails or trips.
  20. Did they run the power wire all the way back to the master relay like the manual calls for? It sounds like they may not have and the voltage is dropping to low while cranking.
  21. I've spent many afternoons at the Wright Patterson Airforce Museum. It will be a full day. The Waco Museum is just up the road a few miles if you I happen to end up in Dayton an extra day. As already mentioned the Penscola Naval Museum is a nice visit. If you I fly into Furgson they will help with transportation.
  22. I always used Air Charts Atlas, but I believe they went out of business a couple of years ago. The Atlas format was much easier for me to deal with while flying and one Atlas gave me the entire Eastern US. I still keep the last year I purchased in my flight bag as a backup if I ever had to have paper. I'm not sure if anyone else still sells the Atlas format, but I much preferred it to having multiple paper charts.
  23. Here is a similiar plane that has new bladders, new prop and lower time engine and same price. If accurately represented and has no problems it could make a good deal for someone. The interesting part is why the owner is selling.   24. There may be some truth to what they said IF the work was done under their repair station license. I worked at a FAA repair station for several years and our overhaul procedures for several of our gear actuators said the removed parts had to be destroyed period. We had a press set up to crush them. Because it was in our procedures it had to be done. It all depends on what their written procedures say and IF the work was signed off as a repair station or by an A&P.
  25. We had a local guy have an off field incident in a 172. The wings were removed and a rope connected to the bumper a truck. Someone got in the plane to steer and brake and 10 miles later the plane was back in its hanger at the airport. The procession went right through the middle of town with a second truck following with safety flashers on.
