  1. I’ve been wondering if this is going to open a can of worms. Will any plane that’s been repainted be subjected to this SB.
  2. When I was first getting into aviation, I used to watch the late Richard Collins on VHS. On one episode, while discussing minimums, he made the comment that it seems pilots have a lot more luck getting into their home bases when weather is at minimums. There was a hint of sarcasm in his tone.
  3. There was another thread on this maybe a year ago. Was an airspeed safety switch.
  4. “The one thing I did wrong, was to not turn on the runway lights”
  5. Sounds like the answer is yes, just not in Approach mode, until gps signal is reacquired.
  6. One of the main differences I see from going G5 rather than Aspen Max is that with the G5 I won’t have to put another GPS antenna on the top of my plane. I would assume Garmin has thought through the ‘what if’. Good question, let’s see.
  7. Sounds like lead. If you’re LOP & getting this regardless of power setting, sound like a bad exhaust valve. Compression test & borescope.
  8. Yea, also when he flew with a new gtn750, but had no idea how it worked.
  9. I generally enjoy the various YouTube flying videos, but I’m not sure I’ve made it through an entire video from Jerry. The constant fumbling just drives me crazy.
  10. Just saw this plane at Lincoln Park. Noticed it had a very nice paint job. Shame, but plane can be fixed. Good job by the pilot.
  11. Anthony was at 6K heading south to FL. Made no sense to go any higher with the headwind.
  12. I like getting close to the clouds. You can then really feel the speed.
  13. I had a very similar problem. Intermittent problems are a bitch. In my case it turned out to be a bad contact from the circuit board to the push-in type connector. I don’t believe any electronic product uses this type of connector anymore. You might get away with pulling the kfc150, checking/cleaning the connection.
  14. New video from AVWEB
  15. I have exactly the same 5 minute cyl 3 CHT thing. I thought it might be a connector issue, but now I’m thinking it might be inherent in our engine.
  16. https://app.ntsb.gov/pdfgenerator/ReportGeneratorFile.ashx?EventID=20181111X11841&AKey=1&RType=HTML&IType=TA
  17. I found having FP displayed to be very helpful. Recently performed sid97 fuel flow setup. It’s hard to get good FP settings just doing static run ups. That was a good starting point, but to get actual TO & idle numbers, you need to fly and tweak. Made a big difference.
  18. You know, I’m real sorry I didn’t get the wife to take a video, especially the approach & landing. She actually seemed to be having a great time.
  19. Flew into BLM on Saturday. Was a handful.
  20. Flew West Bound down to NJ on Saturday. 280 @24G35 landing rwy 32 @ KBLM. Stayed low to stay under the N.Y. Bravo, at one point down to 400ft. Forget using a/p as turbulence kept knocking it off. One of the longest hour I’ve had. Still better than 5 hour drive.
  21. I wonder how many Mooney pilots have taken off or go around, and at some time, forgot to retract TO flaps without bad things happening. I wouldn't make a habit of putting in approach flaps over 110kts though.
  22. Probably can get a better deal in Rifle.
  23. Small ridges, unlikely. Control surfaces not put back exactly how they were removed, very likely.
  24. The Encore is 220 hp. I used to fly with a guy who had a 231 with intercooler & auto wastegate. My plane definitely has a speed advantage, but we never quantified what it was. When flying ROP, I like to keep the tit temp around 1500 deg, so that’s not 50 degrees ROP. LOP, I get around 9 gph with a few kts loss. I have heard the rocket really shines above 10K where the air gets thin. Down low, the 252 performs close to a late model ‘J’, and up high puts in a very respectable performance.
