  1. Congrats. Enjoy getting to know your new bird. Best regards, -a-
  2. Thanks Craig, Tapping the dot works, but generated a new question... Sometimes there is a star in place of the dot. What does that indicate? Best regards, -a-
  3. Stephen, Not trying to.... My only experience on valves was a stuck/bent one in a lyc O-360 that sat too long prior to my purchase. My engineering senses would have me looking a little deeper, like you indicated, while your mechanic is in there. There is some TLS/Bravo experience on this site that may be more fitting/helpful. Best regards, -a-
  4. Cut half of old PMs out. Experimenting with hovering procedure today to find my unread items. Thanks again Craig. I've learned a few things today about web sites, instrument installation, engine break in, and valve springs. I've been impressed by Dr. Stephen's speed collection...again. You have done a great job! Thanks, -a-
  5. That photo sure does explain a lot... My next thought is, what caused that to happen in the first place? Sticky valve or another symptom that may need to be serviced. Best regards, -a-
  6. Wow... Is that true? Not knowing much about beeches... I didn't expect to be schooled on the finer points of Beechcraft ownership at MooneySpace. I feel better now. ROP or LOP, MY Mooney is faster and burns less at the same time, making it economical enough for me. Don't get me wrong, I like the Beech, but not it's economics, V-Tail or not. Thanks? -a-
  7. Generally outspeaking... I'm going with Mooneys are faster. Big engines are better. New planes have more capable instrument panels. (except a few modified to better than new) New Mooneys with big engines, turbochargers and matching E-trade account, are the best. I'd get a talking baby too. Who claimed they paid for their Mooney with proceeds from stock options? I want to talk to you! In case you can't tell, this is in jest. Excluding that last point...send me a PM. I am happy with the move from M20C to M20R. I had the one piece windshield, not 201. I liked the access behind the panel as well. The best mod in this regard, is an electric OAT gage, not through the windshield OEM type. It is accurate, easy to read, does not promote cracking, doesn't vibrate like crazy. M20TN can stay on my wish list. Best regards just stirring the pot, -a-
  8. That looked good to me! I was banking in my chair along with the plane... Thanks for sharing! -a-
  9. V tail vs traditional tail friction...hmmmmm? Sorry missed your point.. Frictional characteristics of plexiglas....? -a-
  10. You might be thinking about the the constant speed part of the equation as well. The rpm controller has some moving parts and seals that might be worth considering, or be aware of.
  11. 74795, Did you mean one piece windshield or 201 style? The old M20C windshield is vertical and is missing the aerodynamics of the more sloped 201. There is a one piece improvement that makes looking out/at better, not too expensive. Or did I miss the point? Best regards, -a-
  12. WingX Another update has been posted to the App Store. I was unable to copy the details of the many details that Hilton & Co have included. Definitely go to the app store and have a look... www.wingx.com Best regards, -a- I downloaded it this morning. Some changes include improved status for GPS, ADSB, AHRS systems
  13. I've cut my PMs in half today...found the envelope icon...the delete button et al... Hope that helps... -a-
  14. I vote for Craig's panel as one of the nicest upgraded ones in the Mooney world. Do we have the ability to give/recieve an online presentation? Complete with q&a sessions... Possibly one per month or quarter.... It would be interesting to see presentations from suppliers such as Peter Lyons' group targeted towards Mooney owner/operators. This would improve communication between suppliers and users in a measurable way. I am interested anyway. In the future I will be interested in panel upgrades and engine rebuilding, followed by tank resealing, 100 octane fuel and maintaining my class 3 medical. Peter, Does your company give these types of presentations already? I have been to your website, but got slightly overwhelmed. I got lost in trying to decide on a starting place (one screen), to a finishing place (new panel like Craig's). Your thoughts? Best regards, -a-
  15. I like the idea of all Garmins, or others...., enter the flight plan once, and have it communicated to all the other devices. A common format would improve the human factors... I could do my flight planning on my iPad , at home, and communicate the plan to my panel mounted and portable Gps. I use WingX currently, taxi, VFR & IFR charts, procedures and ads-b weather. I will need to update subscriptions in the near future. I have considered synthetic vision, but don't have a feel for it as a need vs. a gimmick or viable safety device. Full disclosure: I have Hilton's email address, I have written a glowing review of the latest WingX software update, and feel that there is still room for improvement from all of the suppliers..... Next up...IPhone5 with a back-up copy of WingX. I don't have a smart phone yet, but I sure would like one to communicate with my panel. Talk about nav/com..... Best regards, -a-
  16. Craig, I had one or two PMs per month for the duration. I like to keep them all, because I have recently acquired some memory challenges. I was unable to find any of them, so i could not try to delete one for a test run... Also..... The view new content button does not go to the exact position of "new" content. In other words it goes to the first item that may have 38 posts, where the 39th post is the only one that is new. Keep up the great work! Best regards, -a-
  17. Fyi I have tried the PM method that Brian has detailed, but the PM ran into a memory issue and refused to send... -a-
  18. I tried to send some details in a PM to Fantom (Gary?). But ran into memory issues (not mine though). MooneySpace would not allow sending the PM. It recommended deleting some PMs. I was unable to.... Maybe next time... -a-
  19. Gary, I've gone with as much as I can within the public forum. Wish it could be different... I added the model number earlier today... Best regards, -a-
  20. Everyone..., Make sure to update your profile with the time zone you are in to get the appropriate time stamp. Or else you will appear to be in London. This advice comes from Dr. Bill... Best regards, -a-
  21. We're you guys really up at 1am? Or possibly a time bug? -a-
  22. Good luck 64E, Sometimes there is a good reason for curve balls that come our way. Maybe there is new Mooney searching for you. Keep you eyes open!!! Best regards, -a-
  23. Craig, Spectacular. The look is modern. The feel is familiar. The capabillitiest are top notch. Did you think MooneySpace.com would take off when you first started it in '08? Back in the early days, I was looking to find and purchase a six cylinder Mooney online when I stumbled onto this site. Met some great people. Shared some obscure technical details about aircraft. Then met some more great people. Increased my knowledge. Traded some parts. Organized some training. All connected to this site. I have read every post. It makes great therapy. Thanks again, YOU are the best. -a-
  24. Search for MSC. decide if using one is good for you. Best regards, -a-
  25. While you are in there, check the resistance of the spark plugs. There has been some discussion here lately on the topic.... Best regards, -a-
