  1. Locally, it is on the contractor to call Miss Utility and have lines marked. If they don't, they are entirely responsible for any line damage. If they do, and the line is not where it was marked, then the marking company or utility is on the hook.
  2. Really large boxes have to ship via truck or bus. FedEx and UPS are not set up to ship things larger than can be easily handled by one person. When I get body work for my race car, they get shipped by bus.
  3. Good to know. Article was from 2013.
  4. They told that story about developing the bird resistant windshield for the T-37B.
  5. WRT drag racing, York, PA airport was a drag strip on weekends. If you wanted to land, you flew a pattern to low approach, and they would move the tree and timing gear, and you could land, and they would put it back. It was the first XC airport I landed at. When I saw it, I saw the starting marks and figured it wasn't the airport. I got yelled at for walking across the displaced threshold at Dillingham Field on the north shore of Oahu. I had rented a Tiger and took my cousin for a ride. We landed and parked and walked across to check out the glider operations. A guy came down the hill in his car and claimed to be a cop and that he could arrest us for crossing a runway. When we walked back, we walked around the end.
  6. Have you checked that the tach is accurate?
  7. Just saw an article in Mooney Flyer from Top Gun about this. And he recommended to not use 3 blade props on 4 cylinder engines.
  8. I have gone to Briggs and Riley for my travel luggage. Lifetime, no questions asked warranty. Airlines damage it, B&R will repair or replace. I do a lot of international travel was was getting about 18 months of most bags. But not cheap.
  9. 5200 is also available in tan and black. Hmm, I never found it to be runny.
  10. That is a weird thickness. Typically, al sheet comes in 0.032" and 0.040"
  11. Sounds like what I would do.
  12. I did say if you REALLY want it to stay on. And you do not need to heat it to remove the placard. You run a thin wire behind and cut it. Heat would be required to remove all the 5200.
  13. Thanks for the info. I got some for none aircraft use. But I will keep it away from the paint. Surprised that it attacked Imron.
  14. Same over Baltimore. If you go in or out of Tipton to the north, they will give you right over BWI at 3000+
  15. If you REALLY want them to stay on, 3M 5200 Urethane mastic. It does take some time to cure. Use blue painters tape to hold them in position until it cures.
  16. There is a Simple Green for Aircraft. I have some for other uses. Do NOT use normal Simple Green. It will eat aluminum.
  17. YES. In the auto world, you use Dawn to remove all wax before using a clay bar to remove embedded stuff, and then start the coating process all over.
  18. I had this happen with a Garmin 400. Started an LPV approach and shortly after starting descent, got a no GP warning. So I just changed to a LNAV approach. It was VFR with a safety pilot, and I was above the step down fix, so not issues with terrain. I always try to make sure I have an idea of what the LOC/LNAV profile is. If I am not CLEAR, I climb and break off the approach.
  19. Did a LOT of them in the T-37 and T-38. Through USAF UPT, when I went through, the only ride with more than one full stop is your initial solo in the T-37. You do 3 or more patterns, then full stop to let your instructor out, then at least 3 patterns solo. Personally, if I touched the brakes, I would consider myself committed to land. Better to go off the end of the runway at a very slow speed, then to go off the end just below flying speed.
  20. Thanks Already talking to Jimmy.
  21. Some of the more modern lenses have a much wider reading section. But I still have to move my head some.
  22. FYI, to do it right, you should use supplied air respirator when spraying urethane paints. The catalyst is highly allergenic and have a stupid low exposure limit.
  23. I had been in contact with Jimmy. Was set to buy 479CC, until we looked at the engine logs. The Encore conversion is a bit high, especially since I would have to paint and do the interior. NOT to my taste.
  24. You do have to get used to progressives. That is why the advice to get them early one, when the difference between near and far is less. The only major issue I ran into, was at the book store, with progressives, you have to turn your head to scan the shelves, not just swing your eyes.
