  1. Had a prop cable go bad - it is pretty obvious - crunchy feeling. Different plane but that one was around 4600TT. Wasn't particularly hard to pull out, even with the engine in place but I think the cable was only $299, I rechecked ant it went down $35. I am guessing the throttle and mixture make up the difference to $2K?
  2. Mine because of the brakes.
  3. At the end of the day, you will go with who is available in the timeline you have. I know people that swear by one shop or another, or swear at one shop or another. I lost a sale because one shop did such a thorough pre-buy (down to oil on a hose that was right below the oil filter - with no context) that it scared them off. If you worry less about the scary stories and get your hands dirty on your own plane, you can't help but be surprised how much better you will feel about whoever you choose. That being said Greg or Warren at KBJC will do a great job, they are small but very busy shops. They don't charge MSC prices and I know for a fact that one of them had four Mooney's in the shop when I went to ask about my brakes. Still, if you wait a week to decide it will take that much longer to get a pre-buy done but I would say NEVER do a pre-buy when you are no there to watch and get to know the plane.
  4. If you are going to be a CB and not just fly into Eagle, stay at EIK. Lower prices on everything. Getting clearance out of there requires a phone call. Getting a car then becomes the only challenge, you just have to Uber to B-town or Lafayette. I am hangar'd at Metro, APA is a SS, Boulder's gliders aren't so scary once you get to know it.
  5. I belive aerox will overhaul them too. I forget the quote but that seems about the same as I recall.
  6. Mine dropped from around 2400 to 2000 this year. Only change is another 120 hours of Mooney time. I had 20 during the first quote. Hull coverage is 200 but I would never be able to replace it at that given the current market. Wonder if I should up it by 10-20%. Probably will after I put in the G3X.
  7. Depending on timing, might be able to find a Colorado MSer to give you a ride from APA back to SBS. After you make a decision, let us know. Always (well rarely) need an excuse to fly.
  8. I think one of the biggest myths is that there is a Mooney model, or any plane for that matter, that is better than a Bravo. Just saying.
  9. I talked to @Hans in Denver yesterday. Meet the nicest folks on MS.
  10. It’s in Centennial I don’t see it online yet.
  11. Sounds like a neat discussion. I went straight from a R182 to a Bravo. Love it. Just started flying jets so I am not flying as much as I want to but I will after this trip.
  12. No idea. I think they are still working it out. The new owner is a low time pilot from what I heard.
  13. Got a call from a friend, they are putting a G1000 M20M on line for rent. Sounds like the rate is $325ish. They are touting it as a 220kt airplane. I told him to fly it like that and they will be putting a new engine on it in short order. I guess that is what rental cars are for, best off-road vehicles ever made. Sent him my LOP numbers, I bet the experience requirements will keep most renters away but I can't imagine letting a flight school touch Miss Daisy. I just gave a hangar key to a friend but he flew it like a pro so I am not worried.
  14. Looks good from the outside. OCD reflux is cruel while sitting inside. Ultimately I rarely have pax in the back and I am usually looking forward. The cling type was less clear than the other dye-type, I didn’t realize I had two different types until I had both sides on. I am hangared and covered when not so I am less worried about the thermal dynamics of it all. I did this after annual but I doubt my IA will care.
  15. Bought in March. Flew a month. Three months in avionics. So about seven months of flying. 135 hours.
  16. Check SoundEx they may have a pattern I put .75” in my Bravo. I cut cardboard for templates and used a regular box cutter. http://soundexproducts.com
  17. Got a Bravo at Metro. You don’t want a K, way too efficient and slow.
  18. I definitely agree.
  19. It appears that my insurance went down nearly 20%. Only difference is an extra 120 hours of Bravo time that I didn't have during the first quote period. Pleased.
  20. Just submitted mine. Not due til March but they asked for the paperwork early. Fingers crossed that it is reasonable like yours.
  21. 1053 UL. I can carry 118 gallons of fuel which leaves very little useful load. But I typically only fly with 60 gallons.
  22. I haul a laptop and reader.
  23. I asked about make and model regarding the open pilot portion of my insurance. They said “just Mooney” as they guy I was asking about had 100 hours in a K but no Bravo time. That was my carrier.
  24. I have found that if the YD works too long and too hard, due to not re-trimming the tail in various phases of flight, it will eventually disconnect the AP. Thus when I turn on the AP in climb (I pull back to 2400/34” in cruise climb) I re-trim, same in cruise.
  25. Brav-O is better than a regular O. Just saying.
