  1. PM me if nobody has one at LMO. Think I have one in the hangar, a CH48110-1 but we have different engines (Lyc 540) so you would need to double check.
  2. They tested for power at the starter with the master on and the key turned to start.
  3. Starter bulb works, I just never looked at it because I am always looking forward when I start. Sky-Tec responded and suggest that heat is a known issue with my model and to send it back under warranty: "the solenoid on the starter is malfunctioning. That would explain the hot start issue and is a problem we know about. " I may just have them pull it off and send it in during annual next week but even they suggested the upgraded model so I don't know that having them look at it helps. I'll chat with my IA and see what he thinks. Thanks MS'ers.
  4. Flew today. Landed let it set for ~15-20 to see if heat would do anything. Nope, cranked right up. My IA suggested that he has only replaced 2 solenoids in 20 years and that it might be the smaller lightweight starter, even though it is new ~200 hours in 3 years. Debating changing the starter as @LANCECASPER suggested.
  5. Got the call today. Started up just fine. They will turn the key tomorrow and if it turns out ok then I will try and get her back. A heat issue? The shop said he wiggled things trying to recreate the issue. If the first person to look thought it wasn't getting power...electrical gremlins are the best.
  6. Went through the logs and it says a new Skytec was installed with the reman engine. They said they would get to it later this week so I will follow up with a phone call tomorrow as I consider Thursday later than Wednesday and I left it there Tuesday. I have the test button but some bulbs are out (LORAN) and I don't look there during start I am looking forward.
  7. I have never seen starter power illuminated. I don’t think it was wired that way since I have owned it.
  8. Sitting in a Lyft on the hour ride from home. Plane wouldn’t start after a short flight. No noise up front, batteries fully charged, power to everything as far as I can tell. Engine shop owner came out and after I removed the cowling, he tested the starter and found no power to it. Hope the heat hasn’t fried some wires. Some blow by of the EGT probes. Electric gremlins are the worst. Left her with Harris at GXY and they will take a look later this week. ~200 hours on the engine. I assume they replaced the starter at install, don’t know it was a gear up in 2019 and Factory Reman. Fingers crossed. No KOSH for me. Was considering it.
  9. While I have little time to fly Miss Daisy, my buddy is doing tower flyby's. Miss Daisy at KBJC
  10. I can do 170 TAS at 14.5gph at 12,500 LOP or 200 TAS at 19.5gph ROP - CHTs over 400. I need to get my oxygen leak fixed so I can take it up to the flight levels.
  11. It's worth 2 knots. Hells yes remove it.
  12. Double check the GFC500. I am pretty sure I helped buck rivets in the belly of mine near the end of the install.
  13. MSCs have proven to be incompetent on more that one occasion but enjoy paying double cause price equals quality. Glad to know that you’ve had nothing but success.
  14. Why would you only go to an MSC? The experts will surely scare you out of buying anything.
  15. Centennial Flyers I think.
  16. I can only speak for my airport at 5673 feet but full rich bogs the plane down. I lean almost 1.5 inches up here. I would say it is needed.
  17. Had a prop cable go bad - it is pretty obvious - crunchy feeling. Different plane but that one was around 4600TT. Wasn't particularly hard to pull out, even with the engine in place but I think the cable was only $299, I rechecked ant it went down $35. I am guessing the throttle and mixture make up the difference to $2K?
  18. Mine because of the brakes.
  19. At the end of the day, you will go with who is available in the timeline you have. I know people that swear by one shop or another, or swear at one shop or another. I lost a sale because one shop did such a thorough pre-buy (down to oil on a hose that was right below the oil filter - with no context) that it scared them off. If you worry less about the scary stories and get your hands dirty on your own plane, you can't help but be surprised how much better you will feel about whoever you choose. That being said Greg or Warren at KBJC will do a great job, they are small but very busy shops. They don't charge MSC prices and I know for a fact that one of them had four Mooney's in the shop when I went to ask about my brakes. Still, if you wait a week to decide it will take that much longer to get a pre-buy done but I would say NEVER do a pre-buy when you are no there to watch and get to know the plane.
  20. If you are going to be a CB and not just fly into Eagle, stay at EIK. Lower prices on everything. Getting clearance out of there requires a phone call. Getting a car then becomes the only challenge, you just have to Uber to B-town or Lafayette. I am hangar'd at Metro, APA is a SS, Boulder's gliders aren't so scary once you get to know it.
  21. I belive aerox will overhaul them too. I forget the quote but that seems about the same as I recall.
  22. Mine dropped from around 2400 to 2000 this year. Only change is another 120 hours of Mooney time. I had 20 during the first quote. Hull coverage is 200 but I would never be able to replace it at that given the current market. Wonder if I should up it by 10-20%. Probably will after I put in the G3X.
  23. Depending on timing, might be able to find a Colorado MSer to give you a ride from APA back to SBS. After you make a decision, let us know. Always (well rarely) need an excuse to fly.
